Multiple brands of products that include hard-boiled eggs are under nationwide recall following an alert last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about a deadly outbreak of listeria. At least seven people in five states have gotten sick, including one who died in Texas.

They have use-by dates up to and including Dec. 27, 2019. More information on the Trader Joes recalls, including photos of the products, can be found at this link.

(38,958 posts)Be sure you take them back and get your money back. Too many folks I believe just toss the stuff and take the hit themselves and that is just silly.

(12,429 posts)I got them to put in my Sicilian sausage and rice dish, which has sliced eggs embedded in the layers of rice mixed with tomato sauce and hot sausage. The first batch I made, they tasted kind of gamey so I stopped adding the sliced eggs. The dish is baked at 375 for 40 minutes. I assumed they were overcooked from the baking but maybe they weren't any good to begin with. The expire date on the bags is January 1, 2020.

(21,596 posts)Get a saucepan or pot that is deeper then it is wide.
Fill with fresh, cold water.
Carefully put fresh eggs into the pot.
Turn on stove top eye to HIGH.
Set timer for 15 minutes.
When timer goes off, remove eggs from stove, put pot in sink, and run cool water into pot.
Crack and peel eggs under warm running water.
Voila!
I have a small stainless steel camping cup/pot with folding handles that is the perfect size for making one boiled egg. Its also great for melting butter.
It looks like this:
