Stephen Miller Helped Draft Trump's Unhinged Letter, Reports Say

White House lawyers were largely cut out of the drafting of President Trumps bonkers letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday, according to reports. The New York Times says Trump received help over the past few days from his top policy adviser Stephen Miller, and the process was led by the director of the Office of Legislative Affairs Eric Ueland. Michael Williams, an adviser to Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, is also reported to have been involved. However, according to the Times, Pat Cipollone, the White House counsel who will play a big role in the imminent Senate trial, was not involved in the drafting of the letter. Michael Waldman, a speechwriter to President Bill Clinton during his impeachment, said: Typically a presidents words are weighed very carefully, especially at a moment of constitutional significance... This just seemed to be a chance to change the news stories for a few hours and get it off his chest. Trump sent the letter a day before the House is scheduled to vote on whether to impeach him on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

As someone said on a msnbc panal last night--Can you imagine what the first draft was like.
I did read most of it---but got bored--lots of stuff he already ranted about.

(16,616 posts)sat around for five or six days. It did seem "cleaned up" but it sounded dictated and rattled off on the first go, with Trump's simple words replaced by slightly more complex words and repetitions scratched out.

(1,639 posts)The letter was long and parts of it were coherent. We all knew there was a second hand guiding the pen. Given the tone of particularly aggrieved whininess, it had to be Miller. "I'm expected to pick up my own trash?! Egregious!"
I'm only surprised that the letter didn't accuse the Democrats of calumny.

(1,639 posts)Miller is the one who really scares me. There is real intelligence there; the rest of them are too obvious in their efforts and come across as buffoons. The others are older as well; their supporters are mainly older people with calcified minds who don't want to be pushed out of their comfort zones.
Miller can appeal to younger zealots who are more than willing to be pushed past the comfort zone of passive prejudice and actively--violently--oppress others.

(4,066 posts)I posted this yesterday:
Sounds more like Stephen Miller wording.
I suspect Trump's favorite racist helped with this. The first paragraph alone was enough to determine Trump didn't write that letter. He probably insisted on some edits but he didn't write it.
Sounds like stuff Miller would write.

It's not like that was all that tough to guess. If you just thought about how Miller came across in any TV interview you could see his hand in that letter.

(4,341 posts)I can picture the two infantile evil creatures writing the letter together, just like two little evil creature patting themselves in the back after every sentence.
I do hope Karma is true and Miller gets his.

(45,524 posts)Since there were multiple drafts and the final version was bonkers, this proves Stephen Miller is unqualified to be a policy adviser. Dude needs to be fired.

(28,811 posts)i think the mark of miller is the historical references and the over the top hyperbole. in interviews that's how he talks. he's like trump, but literate.
the whole letter is upside down, backward, opposite world projection.
miller is a nazi.
