The Hallmark Channel pulled 4 TV ads featuring a lesbian couple kissing
Source: The Hill
The Hallmark Channel pulled four TV ads that featured a lesbian couple getting married and kissing after a petition by a conservative group received thousands of signatures.
The ads, which first aired on the channel on Dec. 2, are for wedding planning website Zola. The four ads that were pulled were part of a larger six-ad series, The New York Times reported.
Earlier this week, One Million Moms, a branch of the American Family Association, posted a petition about the ads, saying, "The Hallmark Channel has always been known for its family friendly movies. Even its commercials are usually safe for family viewing. But unfortunately, that is not the case anymore."
The petition received nearly 26,000 signatures, and on Thursday, Zola was notified by Hallmark that four of its ads would be removed.

(70,508 posts)BTW The one million moms branch is really a couple of dudes in their mother's
basement with an iMac.
Hallmark is about ready to take a finical hit like they have never seen before.
They are gonna see a boycott that will be massive. Lots of lesbians shop, a lot
of people have family and friends that are lesbians, and it is unAmerican not to
like two lesbians kissing.

(9,956 posts)... showing a couple kissing, after they get married, is perfectly normal! I wonder if this boycott group prefers unmarried couples kissing... or maybe Melania Trump and her female photo-shoot friend?

(51,593 posts)I watch reruns of Cheers and Frazier on it and they even bleap out the words "damn" and "jackass". They are super conservative. It is like watching TV from the 1950s.

(1,242 posts)Grammer is an avid republican activist. Basically, it is ok for that channel to broadcast a show which takes place in a bar and another one where the lead character has repeated sexual relations outside of marriage, which they and their viewers supposedly take issue with. It is ok because a republican actor does it. Same hypocrisy as throughout all other conservative family values.

At least I have been able to ax out all Faux owned ones.

If any of my friends are upset by this unjust action, I'll support them if they need me.
The judgmental hypocrites can go to hell.

(13,510 posts)is they have had Hallmark movies that have gay characters in them in the recent past. Interesting.

(1,242 posts)I used to tune into the early morning Cheers/Frasier/Lucy reruns but once I noticed I couldn't find any Cheers episodes without Kelsey Grammer in their rotation, I stopped. Now, I would enjoy pink eye more than watching anything on that channel.

(7,358 posts)I doubt Hallmark will lose viewership because of Zola, nobody's watching commercials, they're in the bathroom, or getting another glass of red wine. And of course there are some who will be in the kithen scooping up on that tub of rocky road in the freezer, with a little chocolate sauce. ''Oh my but my child will be watching television" Your child should not be watching these made for tv love novelas, you know with all that sex and 'stuff'. Lord what would we do without Hallmark.

(3,145 posts)my partner would watch those damn written-off-the-same-plot-outline, hyper sugary Christmas movies on Hallmark Channel.
those surgery Christmas movies. Dont have to think about that fucking asshole in the W.H. for a couple of hours. Also do those complaining not watch ABC and NBC because of the gay characters they have on some of their shows?

(23,102 posts)Every year I allow myself 2 sappy Hallmark Christmas shows - but that was before now. Now I will not watch anything on this channel.
