Alabama GOP Chair Goes Birther, Says Obama’s Communist Upbringing ‘Verified’
Source: TPM
The head of the Alabama Republican Party this week threw his support behind one of the most far-fetched theories of the already bizarre birther movement.
Speaking to a group of GOP diehards on Wednesday in Fairhope, Ala., party Chair Bill Armistead raved about a film called Dreams From My Real Father. The movie claims President Obamas grandfather was a CIA agent who convinced Barack Obama Sr. to marry his teenage daughter to hide the fact that shed been secretly impregnated by a communist.
The Mobile Press-Register reported that Armisteads comments came after he was asked by someone in the group about another film, 2016: Obamas Presidency, which also weaves elaborate theories about the presidents upbringing.
If you havent seen it, you should, Armistead said, according to the newspaper. But Im going to tell you about another movie. The name of it is Dreams From My Real Father. That is absolutely frightening. Ive seen it. I verified that it is factual, all of it.

It must be something in the H20. You have Gov Perry blaming Satan for the US Constitution. GOPpers believing that women automatically have some rape sperm detector which seeks out and destroy and if that fails it must be God's blessings or as VP Lyin'Ryan have stated its another form of conception.
I have noticed that most of the GOPpers off the wall notions usually concerns women.

(84 posts)I am not all that into using politically correct language. But correct usage of local idioms can be terribly helpful to understanding one another. So next time, please refer to the Fairhope, Ala., Republican Party Chair as the Grand Dragon of the Fairhope, Ala., Republican Party.
If we are ever going to come together as a people, it will be only after we start making that extra effort towards respect and understanding.

(11,481 posts)It's not that much different in Tennessee, although Nashville is better. Unfortunately, since we are the state capitol, our city's collective IQ goes down 20+ points when the state legislature is in session.
alp227
(32,036 posts)while Steve Cohen (who represents Memphis in Congress, TN-9) is part of the Progressive Caucus. How can be so sure that Nashville is the "liberal" part of Tennessee then? Harold Ford (both Sr. and Jr.) preceded Cohen in the district with Memphis. Surprised to know that Nashville elected a Democrat to Congress. I thought Nashville (the home of country/western music) would be more conservative. But looking up TN-5 in Wikipedia I found that the district has always elected Democrats for the past 150 or so years. (And the district actually elected guys named Loser and Boner!)
Did you know that the 6th TN cong. district, the district with college towns Murfreesboro (Middle Tennessee State) and Cookeville (Tennessee Tech), elected a Tea Partier in 2010 after nearly 25 years of Democratic representation (first by future Vice President Al Gore, then by Bart Gordon, who retired instead of running in 2010?)
TN-2, the district that includes Knoxville (home of the University of Tennessee flagship campus), has elected Republicans for the past near 150 years (of course 150 years ago the Republican Party was the party of Lincoln not the party of Bush/Romney/Santorum/Bachmann/Tea Partiers).
socialist_n_TN
(11,481 posts)And yes Nashville IS better. It's still conservative compared to many parts of the country, but compared to the rest of Tennessee it would qualify as a "People's Republic". I look at the local government more than the national or even the state representation. Local government is pretty progressive, but the state representation is more Blue Dog as is the aforementioned Jim Cooper. Even Cooper is pretty good on most social issues. His economic policies suck.
Finally, I'd LOVE to have Cohen as my rep. He's not as left as I am (not NEARLY so), but he's a LOT better than Cooper.

(10,303 posts)I think we used to call the Communists the "reds".
IMO Mr. Armistead is more communist than Mr. Obama. And only by virtue of the fact he is in a Red State.
What evidence in that film backs it up? Of course it is a work of fiction, just as much as "It Happened Here" is fiction. The only problem is that Mr. Armistead seems to believe this alternate fictional reality actually exists.

(3,248 posts)If I were a lawyer in a courtroom, I could go ahead and agree to stipulate that all this was true. Obama's mother slept with a Communist CIA operative or whatever, and Obama Sr. wasn't the real father.
Then I would ask--now what? Is there anything in the constitution barring illegitimate children from the presidency?
Anything that requires that one's parents adhere to (or abstain from) any particular political philosophy?
No?
So who cares?
All he's just done is argue against the one all-consuming obsession of the First Wave Birthers, which is that Obama's father was Kenyan, and therefore Obama can't be a "natural born citizen."
