Barack and Michelle Obama drop almost $12 million on Martha's Vineyard beach estate: report

Source: New York Daily News

It ain’t the White House, but it’ll do.

Barack and Michelle Obama have splurged on a sprawling $11.75 million beach estate on Martha’s Vineyard, according to the Vineyard Gazette.

The 29-acre Edgartown, Mass., property sits on the shore of the island’s Turkeyland Cove, and the Obamas rented it for several weeks over the summer from Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck.

Reports surfaced in August that the Obamas enjoyed the cedar-shingle mansion so much they put in an offer to Grousbeck.

It looks like a bunch of other houses crowded on their 29 acres? $12M sounds like a steal for a 7,000 sq ft house on a chunk of land on Martha's Vineyard.

I hope they will have lotsa happy there, especially when rethugs start sniping about it.

maybe they just want it for a few years or maybe they figure they'll get it over with quickly

now what are these dumbfuck republicans and their putin friends going to gripe about now that the obama's aren't going to live near washington to coordinate the trump coup, with valerie jarett as sex slave in the threesomes?

if you're concerned about global warming consider that these 87 universities shit on their mission statements all year long by supporting 260 limbaugh stations.

to hear that there are still credible threats against Obama. During his presidency, the threats were unprecedented and I think a lot of that hate could still be festering out there.

I didn't always agree with everything Obama did, but I never for one moment doubted his sincerity or integrity. I'm sure there are many reason they bought this property. They may want a place that is big enough for the work that they do, work that probably will involve frequent guests.

But where is the gold paint? tRump would not approve. The Obamas both wrote books that genuinely made the best seller lists. They have EARNED their wealth. Now that Allan Dirtybits is a pariah on Martha's Vineyard, it is safe to buy a home there. I wonder what kind of a love nest the tRumps will buy after the WH?

have wealth, especially in America, but when so many are just barely getting by in the richest nation in the history of the world it kind of reeks of privilege. I know this it is not socially acceptable to not admire wealth but I just think it is distorted values. I admire both Barack and Michelle Obama for their efforts while in the WH and it sure seems like a lifetime ago. For those that have become wealthy by being public servants or religious leaders it just doesn't pass the smell test for me.
