Rick Perry Blames Separation Of Church And State On Satan
Source: TPM
In a conference call with fellow evangelicals earlier this week, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) shared his thoughts on the origins of the constitutionally mandated separation of church and state. Rather than tracing the idea to the nations founders, Perry warned of a more nefarious source: Satan.
Satan runs across the world with his doubt and with his untruths and what have you and one of the untruths out there that is driven is that people of faith should not be involved in the public arena, Perry said during the call on Tuesday, organized by the Rev. Rick Scarborough.
Perry said the separation of religious and civic institutions in the U.S. began with a narrative that first took root in the 1960s.
Somehow or another theres this, ya know, steel wall, this iron curtain or whatever you want to call it between the church and people of faith and this separation of church and state is just false on its face, the governor said. We have a biblical responsibility to be involved in the public arena proclaiming Gods truth.

(7,010 posts)I wonder if he has pictures or if Satan is a fictional character in his head. I will go with the fictional character in his head. Like George Carlin said: "Keep thy religion to thyself.

(452 posts)I mean, he did get a B in American National Government at Texas A&M. He carried a 2.3 GPA upon graduation from A&M so that was actually one of his better grades. Basically, what I'm saying is that Rick Perry is a genius.

(582 posts)The fact that Perry is still in the state house to me indicates the work of Satan. Please ignore him. We try to.

More Witch hunts, attacks on Quakers and other groups...hmmmm...
Someone should tell Perry it seems to be the other way around.

What a liar! The public arena is filled to the brim with so-called peopled of faith. Just try to get elected as an atheist. There is no ban on religious people serving in office.
HOWEVER, they must govern according to the Constitution, not their interpretation of the Bible.
