Fight over Philadelphia's voting machines may head to court

Source: Associated Press

Marc Levy, Associated Press Updated 2:43 pm CDT, Wednesday, October 2, 2019

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein wants Pennsylvania to block Philadelphia from using new touchscreen machines the state is buying ahead of the 2020 election and threatened court action Wednesday if it doesn’t do so promptly.

Stein’s demand means that she and a group of plaintiffs could take the state back to Philadelphia’s federal court, where they filed an agreement last year to settle their lawsuit over vote-counting in 2016’s election.

Stein and the other plaintiffs made the request in writing to Pennsylvania’s Department of State, which oversees elections.

“We must protect our vote and we must protect the authenticity of our vote,” Stein told supporters during her announcement in front of Philadelphia’s federal courthouse Wednesday.

Doesn't he know that those things can easily be infected with malware - and what's more, that they were designed to be?

When Dubya wanted to "help America vote" - I don't there's a single Democrat who doesn't understand what he meant.

Many other countries have had similar experiences with black-box voting - which is why you mostly only see them in authoritarian-leaning countries.

4. What a thrill it was to learn during Dubya's 2000 bid that Sen. Chuck Hagel owned voting machines.

BREAKING NEWS: Senate Ethics Director Resigns; Senator Hagel Admits Owning Voting Machine Company

By Bev Harris
U.S. CHUCK HAGEL NOW ADMITS OWNERSHIP IN VOTING MACHINE COMPANY SENATE ETHICS COMMITTEE DIRECTOR RESIGNS

“Hagel’s ethics filings pose disclosure issue” -- “The Hill” 1/29/2003

On October, 10, 2002 Bev Harris, author of the upcoming “Black Box Voting: Ballot-Tampering” in the 21st Century, revealed that Republican Senator Chuck Hagel has ties to the largest voting machine company, Election Systems & Software (ES&S). She reported that he was an owner, Chairman and CEO of Election Systems & Software (called American Information Systems until name change filed in 1997). ES&S was the ONLY company whose machines counted Hagel’s votes when he ran for election in 1996 and 2002. The Hill, a Washington D.C. newspaper that covers the U.S. national political scene, confirmed her findings today and uncovered more details.

Hagel’s campaign finance director, Michael McCarthy, now admits that Senator Hagel still owns a beneficial interest in the ES&S parent company, the McCarthy Group. ES&S counts approximately 60 percent of all votes cast in the United States. According to the Omaha World-Herald which is also a beneficial owner of ES&S, Hagel was CEO of American Information Systems, now called ES&S, from November 1993 through June 2, 1994. He was Chairman from July 1992 until March 15 1995. He was required to disclose these positions on his FEC Personal Disclosure statements, but he did not.

5. Can you imagine if a conflict of interest like THAT had existed in some 3rd world country?

One in which the ruling party wasn't exactly in Washington's good graces?

The MSM and political establishments would be howling for regime change.

But it was Nebraska, and the GOP benefited - so no problem.

Thank you, Judi, for finding and sharing that. Always bears reminding.

2. K&R Court is the only place to fight use of computerized voting machines

The voting machine industry has set up an extortion system where politicians must certify and approve purchases of computerized voting systems if they want to "secure" elections while they're in office/seeking re-election.
