US to deploy more troops to Saudi Arabia, UAE
Source: AP
The Pentagon says the U.S. will deploy additional troops and military equipment to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to beef up security, as President Donald Trump has at least for now decided against any immediate military strike on Iran in response to the attack on the Saudi oil industry.
Defense Secretary Mark Esper says this is a first step, and he is not ruling out additional moves down the road. He says its a response to requests from the Saudis and the UAE to help improve their air and missile defenses.
Esper and Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, say details of the deployments will be determined over the coming days.

(5,137 posts)Why are we playing both sides of the fence? We support the Arabs with equipment, we support the Israelis with 3 billion dollars a year. Both are pretty well off as far as their monetary situation, yet here we are. Americans are dying in the streets, American families are homeless, and we are giving 3 BILLION to a country that could care less about anything. We are giving arms and soldiers to a country that would turn on us the second we break the chains of oil consumption. We need to start worrying about our own before we start trying to save the rest of the world. (Yeah, like that will ever happen...)

(19,204 posts)Trump has to do something, ANYTHING, to change the story. Trump can't have this whistle blower story carry on for another week or longer. I fear for our Armed Forces personnel. Trump would have no qualms about sacrificing American lives to save his big butt. He sacrificed an entire political party, and he's well on his way to sacrificing our entire country, for his personal enrichment.

(3,496 posts)I'm sure the administration is thinking that the mere presence of US troops will discourage future attacks. If they do get them it's a perfect prelude to war with Iran. Of course we seem to have forgotten the mere presence of our troops was enough to enrage conservative Arab entities to attack us in the first place.

That is an immediate military response.
Traitor Trump is protecting the scum who attacked us on 9/11. While the AP is trying to minimize it.

(38 posts)So why do we have to put personnel there when they buy at least 110 billion dollars worth of arms yearly from the usa? THey buy more military hardware than any other country from the usa. So now we have to pimp out our soldiers to a country that seems to have mastered killing and dismemberment to the nth degree? Is American blood cheaper to spill or more expendable?
