‘Democrats For Lingle’ Ad Features Republicans
Source: TPM
Several of the Democrats for Lingle featured in a new Senate campaign ad for Hawaii Republican Linda Lingle are not Democrats at all. Some have even run for office as Republicans.
Lingle must win over independent voters and some Democrats in order to win in her deep-blue home state in November. Lingles willingness to reach across the aisle, which she highlights in the new web ad and in other spots, is meant to appeal to those voters. But several of the people featured in the ad appear to be Republican officials and candidates for state office.
Im a Democrat, and Im voting for Linda Lingle, says a woman identified as Elaine Slavinsky. But in 2004, Slavinsky ran for the Hawaii state Senate as a Republican, calling for less government spending. I think we keep adding more and more programs and not tightening our belts to shrink government, Slavinsky said during her 2004 campaign.
Another woman in the ad, identified as Jan Shishido, says that Lingle is going to work with both parties to get things done. Shishido appears to have been a Democrat many years ago, but in 2000 she ran the Maui County Republican Party, a position Lingle appointed Shishido to when she was governor, according to a Pacific Business News report from 2000. Shishido also ran for the Hawaii state House in 2004 as a Republican.

(13,485 posts)It really is lies from one end of the media world to the other, on blogs, as comments to blogs, comments on websites, it just goes on and on.
It is hard to believe the redundancy they rely upon.
It's desperate, dysfunctional, delusional, decrepit, and I haven't even gotten to the "e" words yet.

Mazie Hirono for Democratic Senator from Hawai'i! Who just got the Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) Endorsement!
Improving the safety and work conditions of flight attendants goes hand-in-hand with improving passenger safety, said Hirono. This also relates to my legislation to increase tourism the VISIT USA Act which would create an estimated 6,000 jobs here in Hawaii alone. As passengers feel safer and safer on planes, especially during long-distance and international flights, they will be more inclined to visit places like Hawaii.

(78,249 posts)When a Dem resigned from the Legislature to take a lobbying job with the phone company, it was up to Gov. Lingle to appoint a replacement. Hawai'i law requires that the replacement be of the same party.
So what did Lingle do? She got one of her cronies to re-register Dem, and shazam! she had her newly appointed Dem* legislator. At least until the press caught on, and she, too, had to resign.
No wonder the repukes are down to 7 of 51 house members and only two of 25 senators! In hindsight, I wish we'd run a better candidate against her for re-election than sacrificial lamb Randy Iwase; it turns out that her support was a mile wide, but an inch deep.
