A 7 Point Swing For Elizabeth Warren Powers Her into the Lead over Scott Brown

Source: Politicus usa

The PPP poll confirms what a Western New England University Polling Institute poll released earlier in the day that found an even bigger swing towards Elizabeth Warren. The Survey of Bay State Voters found Warren leading Brown, 50%-44%. Among registered voters Warren leads 53%-41%. The poll also found Warren leading with Democrats 89%-6%.

There is some speculation that Warren is benefiting from the prime time address she delivered ahead of Bill Clinton at the Democratic convention. Warren is also being helped by the fact that as Election Day draws near, Democrats are coming home to their party.

The Brown/Warren contest has been close all summer, but President Obama’s popularity in the state combined with the fact that a majority of Massachusetts voters don’t want a Republican controlled Senate could spell doom for the incumbent.

Scott Brown is facing a top notch Democrat in a blue state for the seat that used to be occupied by the late Ted Kennedy. When you throw in Mitt Romney, and the complete implosion of the national Republican Party, it is easy to see why momentum and outside factors may end up favoring Elizabeth Warren on Election Day.

Very glad you're here, and I couldn't agree more. The very IDEA that a republi-CON - I don't care how "moderate" - would actually be occupying the Senate seat that Ted Kennedy held for decades - is an OUTRAGE! What on earth were they thinking, even just on principle? Ted Kennedy's old seat, of all Senate seats, falling into enemy hands. I never thought I'd see the day! But I'm old enough to be part of the greater Kennedy Family Fan Club from the '60s. That name carried tremendous meaning to so many. The Kennedy era inspired so many young people to want to get involved, and "ask what they could do for their country." It gave us hope, a sense of commitment, and a sense of DUTY! To our country and to our future! Something nobody bothers with anymore. No one gives a rat's ass about duty to one's country - except for those precious few volunteers who go and put on their country's uniform and willingly put themselves into harm's way.

In some ways, at least to me, it almost feels as though the planet began rotating the wrong way or tilted on its axis - when that republi-CON wound up taking Ted Kennedy's Senate seat! As though it's not the natural order of things. That seat, just on principle, needs to be back in Democratic hands. And no pair of hands is more splendid or well-suited to step up and take the job than Elizabeth Warren's. She is entirely worthy and deserving of that seat. The Kennedys of old would have found her to be a kindred spirit. And when she speaks, she reminds me of that passion so many of us as young people had awakened within us just as we were coming of age, or closing in on it, during the Kennedy era. I'm being incredibly idealistic here, but that's how it felt. When we were young again after the old, cold, Grandpa's-in-charge Eisenhower era, and all of a sudden there was this chic young couple with little bitty kids who moved into the White House - like springtime coming after a long drawn-out, cold, numbing winter. It's like when you hear the voices of children squealing and laughing in the neighborhood when an elderly couple moves out and a young family moves in. That's how it felt. Reinvigorated and rejuvenated and hopeful - so hopeful we could go to the frickin' MOON if we wanted to!

I've taken it personally, and as a personal insult, that there'd actually be a republi-CON desecrating Ted Kennedy's Senate Seat. Yeah, I admit, I'm taking it a little TOO personally. Heck. I live in California. I'm not a Massachusetts resident. I've never even been there! But thereya go. I SO DEEPLY and ARDENTLY hope, as a child of the '60s, that we get that seat back in a couple of months!!!!

Even though I live out west most of the time I still keep an eye on my old home state of MA. It really disturbed me to think that Scott Brown even had a mild chance of beating Elizabeth Warren in Nov. In fact it nearly made me ill when he won the last special election.

Or for that matter that they even sent Romney to the Governor's office in the first place back when.

Glad to see my friends from the Bay State are finally showing their Liberal beliefs. I often wonder why there was any doubt that Warren would take the prize. After all this is the state that went for George McGovern back in '72. Remember? I hate to see it when MA takes a step backwards.

"He's for us" (to whom does the term "us" refer);
that he crosses party lines and votes his conscience.

Bullshit!

I'm too lazy to fact check it. Does anyone have the numbers all cued up
as to how many times he voted contrary to the Republicans in the Senate ?
(I bet it's less than 4,and he did it to save his ass from Mass. electorate)
And, how much money the "financial industry" (i.e. Wall St.) has given to him ?
(I know it's a lot, maybe the most of any Senator)

Thanks. I like concrete numbers. They don't lie.

Two things that annoy the shit out of me: pretense and hypocrisy. He has both.

p.s. He's getting tons of cash from outside sources, including turd blossom's PAC,
not from Mass. Why win on the merits of what you stand for when you
can purchase it with other people's money?

AND ... are those sources the "US" of whom he's referring to in his ads ?

The owner of the gym in Lowell, MA where Micky "The Fighter" Ward trained was on camera talking about how Elizabeth is a fighter for the middle class and that Scott is for the corporations. It was like having Burgess Meredith from Rocky endorse a candidate in Philly.

The problem is that the majority party in Mass. is now "Not Enrolled" or independents. I've done some canvassing for the campaign and they range from tea baggers to apathetic. I sense that people in the latter category are just starting to tune in to Elizabeth and they seem to be open to what they see.

Mass. has a long history of NOT electing women to the big state offices - we only have one woman in the House delegation (Niki Tsongas, wife of Paul) and we have never had a woman Senator. We have had only one woman serve as "acting" Governor - when Paul Celluci left Jane Swift in charge after Bush appointed him ambassador to Canada. She was kicked under the bus by the state Republican Party so Romney could run in 2002.

The good old boys are strong with this state.

Brown's biggest contributors are from the financial, energy and insurance sectors.

and not be a temporary senator

Her calling is to be the new Teddy- who once he gave up the thought of running for president became perhaps the greatest senator in history

the democrats need her in the senate (and some day maybe majority leader after Harry Reid retires).

She could serve for 24 years.(and then be FDR like in having 4 terms) but the senate is where she needs to be and the people need to know she will serve her whole term.

That will be worth another 3 to 5 percent votes or more, and secure victory if she publicly makes that pledge.
(I talk about this on the other current thread about her)

If not, then it may have yet to take affect in Dem voters' minds.

Warren and the Mass Dems activists need to keep hammering home the point to Mass Dem voters that a vote for Brown is a vote for Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority leader.

I think the D convention just might have been a turning point, not just for this race but for the country's mindset.

I think people are starting to tire of the Republican message. I think they are starting to add 2 + 2 and realize it won't make 5. They see that ALL the Republicans have is "tax cuts" and this batch wants to give them mostly to people who simply don't need them.

They are finally starting to question the Republican's economic policies because the proof is in the pudding, they CAUSED this mess and they damn sure are not going to fix it.
