Donald Trump joked with Vladimir Putin about getting rid of journalists and Russian meddling in US elections when the two leaders met at the G20 summit in Japan.
As they sat for photographs at the start of their first formal meeting in nearly a year, the US president lightheartedly sought common ground with Putin at the expense of the journalists around them in Osaka.
"Get rid of them. Fake news is a great term, isn't it? You don't have this problem in Russia but we do," Trump said.
To which Putin responded, in English: "We also have. It's the same."
Twenty-six journalists have been murdered in Russia since Putin first became president, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), many of them investigative reporters scrutinising governmental abuses.

So when the republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief smirks, it's because he is a freaking bald-faced republican traitor to the USA.

(14,178 posts)A Democratic President, elected with a minority of the popular vote, whose party also spearheaded voter suppression in districts where Republicans were strongest. And who all our intelligence agencies concluded was helped to win by...a left alternative....Castro or Maduro. Three years later, he is still having secret meetings and joking with Maduro in public about it. And his hand picked AG gets him off on an investigation led by a Democrat, who conveniently decides he can't lay charges.
etc etc etc.....
You can't imagine, because it would have all ended immediately. The national security of the country would be raised, and secure and fair elections would be their rallying cry! Republicans would refuse to even enter either of the Houses after inauguration, and Fox News and the RW noise machine would be on red alert 24/7. They would not relent until the Democratic President stepped down.
We like the slow and steady approach...start with strongly worded letters. Then polite requests for appearances. If they refuse, more letters. Then capitulate and allow them private appearances with their lawyers, where they refuse to even answer questions. More letters and some gruff words on TV this time. Until we "ramp it up" to vague threats of actually using laws in place to charge them or arrest them, maybe....we'll see at some future date.
Meanwhile time ticks on. and the dismantling of America continues daily.
