Trump invites congressional leaders to White House to discuss Iran after Revolutionary Guard shoots down U.S. drone

By Erin Cunningham, Middle East reporter covering Iran, Turkey, Syria and the wider region; and Dan Lamothe
June 20 at 1:18 PM
....

Speaking at a White House meeting with visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Trump added that the drone was over international waters and that everything has been “scientifically documented.” Asked about a possible response, he was noncommittal, saying, “Let’s see what happens.” But he also said: “This is a new wrinkle. This is a new fly in the ointment — what happened, shooting down the drone — and this country will not stand for it.”

Trudeau said he was “very concerned” about the matter and expressed a desire to work with the international community to resolve it.

The White House invited a bipartisan group of top congressional leaders to a meeting Thursday afternoon on Iran. Among those expected to attend were Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence and armed services committees.

Lamothe reported from Washington. Missy Ryan, Anne Gearan and William Branigin in Washington contributed to this report.

They constantly brag how tough doofus is. His show today has to have their marble brains reeling. Anyone braved the darkside to see what the chatter is?

Iran said the drone “violated” its territorial airspace, while the U.S. called the missile fire “an unprovoked attack” in international airspace over the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf and President Donald Trump tweeted that “Iran made a very big mistake!”

... property crimes are not capital offenses ...

... REPEAT: property crimes are not capital offenses ...

... especially when you're lying to get this country into yet another useless, horrible God damned war ...

... especially when you want to murder thousands of innocent civilians for your perverted, self-centered, craven, so-called "reality" ...

is not how a president talks to their citizens. It's how a mom might push back a bit on a child when entering a grocery store.

The United States literally shot down an Iranian passenger plane in Iranian air space in 1988 killing 275 people including about 60 children -and they didn't even apologize for it. Now suddenly a burning oil tanker and a broken robot are justifications for an all out war?

Its just idiotic to go to war over machines that can be replaced. Of course, tRump is an idiot. Good thing cooler heads prevailed for the moment.
