President Trump declared Thursday that Iran made a very big mistake after the country shot down a U.S. drone.
The presidents first apparent reaction to the strike came in a morning tweet, in which he did not say how the U.S. may respond.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters earlier that Trump has been kept up to date and briefed last night and again this morning on the incident.
The drone shoot-down inflamed heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran over Tehrans nuclear deal with other world powers, which appears to be falling apart.

She thinks about a boy she knew in school
Did she get tired or did she just get lazy?
She's so far gone she feels just like a fool
My oh my, you sure know how to arrange things
You set it up so well, so carefully
Ain't it funny how your new life didn't change things?
You're still the same old girl you used to be
You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes
Honey, you can't hide your lyin' eyes

(38,436 posts)No lives were lost. No one was hurt. Our drone was flying over their land without permission. I suspect that Iran has the right to shoot it down. What do you think?

Iran says that it was. The US Navy says that it was in international airspace. Just because Trump is president is not enough reason to believe Iran over the USNavy. As a possible tiebreaker consideration...
1) The drone didn't have to be "flying over their land" in order to do it's job. At 50,000 feet, the horizon is over 250 miles away.
2) The stuff that the Navy is most interested in watching isn't far inland (if at all)
3) Inland targets aren't as mobile... the US can use satellites for those.
4) It it WAS over their land... then there's a crash site somewhere. Iran would not miss an opportunity to publish photos. Why haven't we seen any?
Fuck trump, but if this happened in international airspace, it needs to be addressed. I would love to see the crash site.

(421 posts)Not only is Trump giving away our nuclear secrets to the Saudis, he's also lining the pockets of war profiteers.
The Israelis, Saudis, and Putin arranged this prior to the 2016 election to help Orange Mussolini win. Now it's being implemented.

(2,412 posts)Looks like the Pentagon is backing up Trump by saying that the drone was in international waters.
Yet the maps they show on TV show the drone on Iranian land territory. What can we ever believe? Does Iran have a right to defend itself?

(21,577 posts)ABC had a clip this morning if Iranians picking up pieces of the drone, on land. So unless the thing drifted a few miles over land before it crashed Im skeptical of the international waters story.

(26,748 posts)Iran has lots of stock footage of such things and releases them for effect. Most are blatantly false (and easily falsifiable). The main image for the current incident (a burning drone falling from the sky) is fraudulent... but I haven't seen the one you're referencing.

(21,577 posts)i can tell you it was not a TV/press clip. it was more like something a civilian shot on his cellphone, and you see a guy picking some pieces of metal.
I did just see that there is a 12 mile buffer Iran has from its coastline into the sea. They are claiming the drone was in the 12 mile zone. The US location is 21 miles off the coast.
