Three more U.S. senators received a classified Pentagon briefing on Wednesday about a series of reported encounters by the Navy with unidentified aircraft, according to congressional and government officials — part of a growing number of requests from members of key oversight committees.

One of them was Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, whose office confirmed the briefing to POLITICO.

“If naval pilots are running into unexplained interference in the air, that’s a safety concern Senator Warner believes we need to get to the bottom of,” his spokesperson, Rachel Cohen, said in a statement.

The interest in “unidentified aerial phenomenon” has grown since revelations in late 2017 that the Pentagon had set up a program to study the issue at the request of then-Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.). Officials interviewed multiple current and former sailors and aviators who claim to have encountered highly advanced aircraft that appeared to defy the laws of aerodynamics when they intruded on protected military airspace — some of which were captured on video and made public.

6. It is a news story, like it or not

The NYT and Politico have reported on the military sightings, there is a Pentagon office looking at them, and U.S.Senators are getting briefed on it. They are taking it seriously even if you mock it.

10. Ignorance means lack of knowledge

It's not that hard to read a new story. It is easier to pretend knowedge on an internet site and mock those things that one is too afraid to confront. If you had bothered to read it, you would find out that pilots and radar techs from two different ships reported the incident and that the Pentgon released a video.

The two Navy pilots, radar tech and Navy Security chief who came forward on this particular story said they did it in spite of the kind of ridicule the blissfully ignorant like to use instead of reason. Christopher Mellon is the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Staff Director of the Senate Intelligence Committee and John Podesta was White House Chief of Staff for Clinton and Counselor to President Obama. They are also pursuing this story. The writers from the Times and Politico are all respected journalists. You might want to be careful about bashing a Democrat Podesta, since that is frowned on here.
