Schiff: 'Time is running out' for Mueller to testify

Source: Politico

By SARAH CAMMARATA 06/18/2019 09:14 AM EDT

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff said the clock is ticking for Robert Mueller to publicly testify about his investigation into Russian meddling during the 2016 presidential election.

“Time is running out,” Schiff said Tuesday on CNN’s “New Day.” “With someone like Bob Mueller, making an appeal to his patriotism and a sense of duty is the right way to go.”

The California Democrat added that August is too late for such a public appearance and that if an agreement isn’t reached, “We’ll have to use a subpoena.”

Last month, Mueller said he had wrapped up his duties as special counsel and did not plan on testifying before Congress. House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) also said he would issue a subpoena for Mueller's testimony, though his committee is still negotiating with the former special counsel and the timeline for any subpoena remains unclear.

One can only imagine the Republican threats and arm-twisting used against Mueller behind closed doors.

And then subpoena him. Mueller waffled in his report, and he needs to be asked directly, “If Donald Trump were not president, would you indict him?” No hiding behind an untested opinion put out by a Republican DOJ decades ago that has not been tested or upheld by any court.

In my opinion, this was a perfect opportunity to test that opinion, and he should have recommended that Trump be indicted for obstruction of justice.

I will agree that we have little bit of time, but not much, the buffoon is starting his campaign today, there will be a lot of noise, you need to counter all that noise with facts, so bring Muller and the rest now...Where is McGahn? Where is Don jr? Kushner? etc.

Like the scene in the movie Midnight Express. He wants to get lost in the shuffle, getting back into the circle, lost in the crowd of other sycophants with his head down hoping no one notices him. He wrote his report with enough cloudy obtuseness that Barr could interpret it as he did.

something bad is gonna happen. Six months later, when I'm still not cleaning up my room, Mom is still making the threat.

People who mean it, DO something. They don't say something repeatedly.

especially those in positions of leadership (Pelosi and Neal), are squandering multiple opportunities to expose the pervasive corruption and criminal acts of the Trump syndicate and their enablers. They're like deer in the headlights and it's becoming painfully obvious that they're incapable of pursuing the necessary measures to salvage what remains of our democracy. Trump and his gang of punks sense the weakness and become more emboldened by the day by the lack of any adverse consequences or punitive actions for their increasingly brazen and thuggish behavior. They're following the playbook of the european fascist of the 1930's and there seems to be a lack of recognition of such by the general population.

Friends all across this country worked their butts off in GOTV. They were SO happy about the diverse, congressional big blue wave win Dems has this past fall. But here it is now several months later and they're not nearly enthusiastic about the big victory we had in the Congress. They all see fatso guilty of treason and continuing to get away with murder, they see thuglicans defending him and just as guilty as he is, and almost all think that Dem leadership is letting them down in a big way with what they see as a lack of a plan an a lack of action vs Thuglicans. Many of them didn't get any tax cuts, their health insurance premiums sky-rocketed, and they see where fatso wants to get rid of the ACA again. The are very loyal Dems and of course plan to vote blue no matter who in the 2020 GE (Several like me wonder if we will be able to vote with ANY confidence, especially after seeing fatso begging for more ruskie help last week ), but they wonder about their children and grand children who are wondering out LOUD if they'll even bother to vote and are wondering if their votes will count due to gerrymandering, voter-suppression or if Dems continue to allow themselves to be the party of Charlie Brown and thuglicans as the party of Lucy. I pray voter-enthusiasm doesn't strike the Dem party.

Yeah I'm bummed out myself, but plan to vote blue no matter who in 2020 (That's if my vote counts, and we can vote).
