Trump vows mass immigration arrests, removals of 'millions of illegal aliens' starting next week

Source: Washington Post

President Trump said in a tweet Monday night that U.S. immigration agents are planning to make mass arrests starting “next week,” an apparent reference to a plan in preparation for months that aims to round up thousands of migrant parents and children in a blitz operation across major U.S. cities.

“Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States,” Trump wrote, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “They will be removed as fast as they come in.”

Large-scale ICE enforcement operations are typically kept secret to avoid tipping off targets. In 2018, Trump and other senior officials threatened the mayor of Oakland, Calif., with criminal prosecution for alerting city residents that immigration raids were in the works.

Trump and his senior immigration adviser, Stephen Miller, have been prodding Homeland Security officials to arrest and remove thousands of family members whose deportation orders were expedited by the Justice Department this year as part of a plan known as the “rocket docket.”

‘This golf course was built by illegals.’ Trump’s N.J. club hired undocumented workers for years, report says

Latin American counties, including six from the same town on Costa Rica’s tallest mountain, who said they had worked at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, the report said. Most said they used fake Social Security cards and working papers they purchased in Bound Brook and neighboring towns, but their supervisors were aware of their illegal status.

snip

The Washington Post said the newspaper obtained a police report showing Trump National’s head of security was told in 2011 about an employee suspected of using false identification papers. That is the first known documentation that the Trump organization was warned it was hiring immigrants living in the country illegally.

snip

The Trump Organization said in December it was unaware any of its employees were undocumented immigrants.

snip

“Most importantly, the story reflects what can no longer be denied: the Trump enterprise at Bedminster is the tip of a criminal enterprise that must be investigated and the workers who were fired are witnesses to a crime and must be extended protection. For decades, the Trumps have knowingly and willfully exploited undocumented workers and gained from their backbreaking work while at the same time characterizing immigrants as a dangerous menace to America,” said Anibal Romero, a New Jersey lawyer who said he represents 25 undocumented former Trump employees.

immigrant plan/process in Alabama, and afterwards, they've had serious issues in getting their crops out of the fields
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
03/10/2017 03:44 pm ET
As the founder and CEO of Grow Alabama (Jerry Spencer), an organization that worked to promote the state’s farmers using a community-supported agriculture model, he witnessed firsthand how the passage of the state’s strict immigration law had hurt its farms.
Many Alabama farmers witnessed the abrupt departure of their workers, many of whom were undocumented immigrants that feared deportation. In their wake, many farmers — especially those who grew fresh produce like tomatoes and blueberries — were left without the workers they needed to harvest their crops. They tried hiring American workers and all but 3 workers were left after one month...
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Six years later, the pickers/farm laborers never returned. Alabama crops have never recovered. This has been magnified multiple times across the country as more and more states follow Alabama's example of stricter immigration policies. So, eventually this is going to cause inflation in our food crops that require some sort of manual intervention. In Alabama, the farmers shifted some of their crops to those that could be mechanically processed/handled, thus any crop that requires manual intervention is going to more than likely go up in price. The job market in this area is virtually unchanged (illegal immigrants, all gone, Americans picking the crops, pretty well zero). You could even argue that that in the long run, jobs were permanently lost due to the changing nature of the marketplace.

So, a big claim of this administration is that immigrants take our jobs. BS.

In 2016 we were promised documentation showing she was here legally, but it was never produced. There was just a lot of conflicting information, and "Trust me, she's a citizen," statements from her attorney.

That's without mentioning that her parents got into the country via the "chain immigration" that Fat Donnie is always railing against.

Fascist must have an "other" to blame and point to in their dogma and rallies. It's also important that the "other" is an element of people that are economically and politically weak, otherwise they might hit back and kick your ass.

In this case, it also gives the GOP the luxury of appearing to represent law and order which is disingenuous bullshit.

Honestly, workers from South of the border are so ingrained into the American economy, that removing a large proportion of them will have a severe impact.
Just about any low paid job that entitled white people of any age would not touch, is done by these workers.

I suspect Trump is just doing his usual magician's trick. He is up to something, and hides it behind something else. The serious stuff is hidden behind his frivolous topics - the Wall, undocumented southerners, no collusion, recognizing the sovereignty of Israel, Mueller's report vindicates him, etc, etc.

He has a whole list of distracting topics.

Question is, what nastiness is he scheming behind the smokescreen? War with Iran?

Many of the undocumented who have been here for years are necessary to the food chain in this country and, at least in my area, to the road repair crews, home construction, and landscape maintenance. This roundup does nothing to address the issue of the migrants from the Northern Triangle countries. Instead Trump cuts all economic aid and basically says they should just stay in their countries and be murdered or starve to death.

It’s past time to start impeachment hearings.
