SEOUL, South Korea (AP) North Korea has labeled Joe Biden a "fool of low IQ" and an "imbecile bereft of elementary quality as a human being" after the U.S. presidential hopeful called North Korean leader Kim Jong Un a tyrant during a recent speech.
Pyongyang's official Korean Central News Agency on Wednesday said the former American vice president had insulted the country's supreme leadership and committed an "intolerable and serious politically-motivated provocation" against the North.
Biden during a campaign launch in Philadelphia on Saturday accused President Donald Trump of cozying up to "dictators and tyrants" like Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"What he uttered is just sophism of an imbecile bereft of elementary quality as a human being, let alone a politician," KCNA said.

(26,295 posts)The tiger being the people because they are scared that if they appear weak even for a moment that the people will rise up and literally kill them for what they have been doing and what they have done.
Thats why they issue petty childish insults and why they are try to develop nukes because if they appear weak then they risk death.

(3,193 posts)As long as Kim has the loyalty of the military he's not going anywhere. Between the cult of personality and the fact that the average citizen is borderline malnourished, there won't be rebellion in the streets anytime soon. That's one reason the military actually gets fed halfway decent food.
They want/need nukes because their conventional forces are a joke. They have a huge army, but most of their equipment is woefully outdated. Without nukes, South Korea would roll right over them. The only other threat they pose is from all the artillery aimed at Seoul.

(3,193 posts)For instance, if they even suspect someone of disloyalty, that person vanishes, along with three generations of their family. The guys in the military know this, so that's a huge incentive against crossing any lines. And again, they actually get fed, unlike the common folks.
Kim isn't stupid. In the early days of his regime he purged any military leader who could've been a threat to him. The message was very clear.
The common people are starving and terrified, and they have no weapons to speak of. They're no threat to the Kim regime. As long as he keeps the military happy and in line, he's fine.
