Trump: Discussing Biden probe with Barr would be 'appropriate'

Source: Politico

President Donald Trump told POLITICO on Friday that it would be “appropriate” for him to speak to Attorney General Bill Barr about launching an investigation into his potential 2020 rival, Joe Biden, or his son, Hunter.

The question of whether Trump could pressure Barr to probe Biden is coming under scrutiny after Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal attorney, said he would be traveling to Ukraine to urge the incoming government there to look at Hunter Biden’s involvement with a Ukrainian energy company that has reportedly been in prosecutors’ crosshairs. The efforts appear to be part of a broader campaign by Trump’s allies to damage the former Democratic vice president’s White House campaign and have raised questions about whether Trump’s team is trying to enlist a foreign government to aid the president’s re-election bid.

“Certainly it would be an appropriate thing to speak to him about, but I have not done that as of yet. … It could be a very big situation,” Trump said in a 15-minute telephone interview on Friday afternoon, which stemmed from POLITICO’s inquiries for a separate story.

The president argued that the alleged conflict of interest, or appearance thereof, was not mushrooming into an all-out scandal because Biden is a Democrat.

I'm posting this here instead of in Democratic Primaries because this is a major news story about Trump's abuse of power.

As it says farther down the page at Politico, "Trump’s critics have long feared" that he'll weaponize the Justice Department to go after his political opponents.

Biden, at least at this early stage, is perceived as the front runner. And one who consistently polls ahead of him. Its never too early to start the smear campaign. Start now, with their loyal media empires mirroring their "concern" about Biden and his son. One after the other after the other tangent of this story, and any other smear they can find, repeating over and over until the election.

Why? Because it works. ie...Hillary. Keep the smoke machine going long enough and one by one, more and more, average people who might in every other aspect of their lives have common sense, will eventualy begin to see a little flame. A relentless strategy of repeating lies and smears for what would be almost a year and a half, will pay dividends for them later, into a raging fire. Even if it sounds "freaking insane" now.

This is business ethics applied to the government process. Good guys will finish last if we can't turn this around. Mueller can change everything.

say that he is trying to goad the Democrats into impeachment. They were discussing it last night on the BBC World News as well.

He may think it will increase his popularity and allow him to win reelection.

The abuse of using government resources to smear his political challengers is disgusting. The one + family that needs to be investigated and convicted is sitting in the WH creating havoc for the nation and destroying everything we hold dear. These are the methods of wayward banana republics. These are NOT the way campaigns and elections are managed in the United States.

tRump has assumed full control and is running rampart with his power. He must be stopped! Is our government so weak as not to be able to harness his madness and overcome his criminality?
