Trump: Fox's Napolitano asked me to pardon his friend, put him on Supreme Court
Source: The Hill
President Trump tweeted Saturday that Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano met with him and urged the president to nominate Napolitano to the Supreme Court, as well as grant a pardon to one of the judge's friends.
Napolitano, a former superior court judge in New Jersey, currently works as a legal analyst for Fox News. In a pair of tweets Saturday evening following his campaign rally in Green Bay, the president accused the commentator of becoming "very hostile" after Trump supposedly turned him down for the nation's highest court.
"Thank you to brilliant and highly respected attorney Alan Dershowitz for destroying the very dumb legal argument of "Judge" Andrew Napolitano," Trump wrote.
"Ever since Andrew came to my office to ask that I appoint him to the U.S. Supreme Court, and I said NO, he has been very hostile! Also asked for pardon for his friend. A good 'pal' of low ratings Shepard Smith," the president added, referring to the afternoon host of Fox's newscast that has often been critical of the White House

(21,852 posts)If he had any sense, he wouldn't ask for the appointment. He would have to work much harder, live most of the time in a different city, and get paid less.
At this stage in his life, why would he bother?

(115,836 posts)For one thing, he would know that he isn't qualified and wouldn't make it through a confirmation hearing; he was only a state court trial judge for eight years - even the GOP would want a better resume than that. Also, this is classic Trump: he puts people down by claiming they begged him for something and he turned them down (he's so powerful, after all), and now they're just bitter and angry. I hope Napolitano says something since now the gloves are off anyhow.

Napolitano is almost 70. Little chance he'd want a position on the Court at this stage in his life
I do find it humorous that the orange douchious would put Napolitano and Smith together. Waiting for Wallace to be next

he accidentally ran two people together, though I'm quite sure the "pal" who needs a pardon is undoubtedly imaginary. The whole thing sounds like a lie. This man will come up with a lie for anything.

(9,426 posts)"highly respected Dershowitz"?? The pedophile, friend of both tRump and Epstein? Yeah, he is respected as much as tRump the adulterer is.
If Napolitano has any self respect, he will come out swinging against this lying orange clown. Wait, he works for Faux, so obviously no self respect at all.

(10,243 posts)Like a spider, he ensnares people in his web of lies and criminal schemes, usually by exploiting their personal ambitions and lust for power. People often say there's honor even among thieves (and politicians); no matter how despicable, they're unwilling to betray accomplices. Not Trump. The guy's a dishonorable, treacherous, vindictive, back-stabbing POS.

Whether he is impeached, and thrown out, or voted out in 2020 or manages to complete two terms. The day he leaves office he will start slaughtering those around him for their perceived disloyalty

(37,648 posts)Nothing is too small for him to attack. Napolitano has been openly critical of Trump lately, which is unusual for a Fox pundit. So Trump has come out blazing against him, to try to damage Napolitano, if not ruin his career.
No matter is too small, no person is too unimportant, fr Trump to attack with everything he has.
That' one of the lessons his mentor Roy Cohn taught him. Like any mob boss, you don't let anyone get away with anything. It sends a message.

Most RW pundits have either nixed him from the beginning (e.g. Will, Kristol, Rubin, etc) or started off critical but slowly have begun to drink the Kool Aid.

(2,395 posts)So when the president asked his former advisor and my former colleague at Fox News, KT McFarland, to write an untruthful letter to the file, knowing the government would subpoena it, that's obstruction of justice.
When the president asked Corey Lewandowski, his former campaign manager, to get Mueller fired, that is obstruction of justice.
When the president asked his then-White House counsel to get Mueller fired and then lie about it, that's obstruction of justice.
When the president asked Don McGahn to go back to the special counsel and change his testimony that's obstruction of justice.
When he dangled the pardon in front of Michael Cohen in order to prevent Cohen from testifying against him that is obstruction of justice. Why not charge him?

(302 posts)Is he trying to out Napolitano as gay? Why would he put "pal" in quote marks when talking about him being friends with an openly gay anchor (and one of the few voices of reason on that channel)?
Every time you think Trump can't possibly be any scummier, he manges to outdo himself.

(12,597 posts)I've seen Napolitano criticize trump on many occasions, all based on his legal opinion of whatever the topic is. he's talked about the mail he gets any time he disagrees with trump. And he laughs about it. Which i'm sure gets under trumps skin even more.
I'm curious to see if the judge responds to the buffoon.
How bout someone from trumps side show us all where the Judge's opinion is wrong?

(10,054 posts)and it was this Napolitano guy taking apart trump via the Mueller investigation piece by piece and in simple words that the foxy crowd could understand. It clearly demonstrated that his rantings of "no collusion, no ties to Russia" could not possibly be true, even to their tiny foxy minds. One can only imagine how infuriated trump got watching that!
