Coast Guard lieutenant facing weapons, drug charges to be released on bail

GREENBELT, Md. —
The Coast Guard lieutenant accused of stockpiling weapons and illegal drugs will be released on bail, a federal judge ruled Thursday afternoon.

Christopher Hasson is facing weapons and drug charges. Prosecutors said he was planning a domestic terror attack targeting Democratic politicians and journalists.


Attorneys for Hasson argue their client should get a new hearing because he is not facing any terror-related charges.

The judge was clear in saying the evidence doesn't show Hasson is as dangerous as the government claims, but the judge still thinks Hasson is dangerous.
