Police Propose Pressing Charges Of EU Subsidy Fraud Against Czech PM

Police investigators have proposed pressing charges of EU subsidy fraud and damaging the interests of the European Union against Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš,and several family members including his wife, Czech Radio reported citing police sources.
The police investigation into the so-called Stork’s Nest affair, in which the prime minister is suspected of having illegally tapped into a 50 million crown EU subsidy ten years ago, has been concluded and the files have been handed over to the chief state attorney who will decide on whether to file charges.

Just a brief story in English on a breaking news story from my neck of the woods.
Czech PM Andrej Babiš has been dogged by corruption allegations (as well as allegations he was an informer for the Communist-era Czechoslovak StB (the local version of the Soviet KGB). Currently, he's the head of government and also the head of the biggest political party in the Czech Republic as well as the owner of AGROFERT, an agricultural conglomerate that does business all over the EU (and beyond): Babiš has been called "the Czech Berlusconi" in the past.
In order to prosecute him, the Czech Parliament would have to strip him of immunity - and seeing as his party is the largest party, that might prove difficult (though not impossible, as it was done once before for the investigation).
In any event, Czech politics is certainly no longer boring.
