McDonald's Menu to Post Calorie Data
Source: NY Times
McDonalds said on Wednesday that it would begin posting calorie counts on all its menus next week a move that could put pressure on other fast-food restaurants to do the same. The company also unveiled several menu additions aimed at making its offerings more healthful. They include an egg white McMuffin, a grilled chicken option for the Happy Meal and seasonal fruits and vegetables like blueberries and cucumbers.
We recognize customers want to know more about the nutrition content of the food and beverages they order, Jan Fields, president of McDonalds USA, said in a statement.
McDonalds has been experimenting this summer with placards listing Favorites Under 400, the items on its menu that have 400 calories or fewer. This fall, some 750,000 of its employees will be able to participate in an e-learning program about nutrition, calories and the companys menu to help them answer customers questions.
McDonalds plans to introduce an app this year that will provide customers with information about calories in its products and help them build a customized meal plan.

Only someone whose brain has been fried from too much right wing media (or eating too much McDonald's food) would react "MICHELLE OBAMA CREEPING TYRANNY!!!!" after reading the headline.

More of this! Let's start a new sensation of perfect information
The calories have been listed at mcDs and lots of other places for awhile. At least in LA. Haven't they?

(322 posts)I feel like people in LA are more health-conscious than the average American. I haven't seen anything like this at any of my local McDonalds. But I could be the lone outpost

(2,484 posts)If you operate more than 10 or 20 stores, you have to provide the calorie data on the menu.
Good idea.

I always take mine with sausage anyway, but the yolk in their cooked eggs (Canadian fresh, not the soggy cardboard on the McBiscuit) is always pasty and crumbly and generally a waste of perfectly good fat. Using the moist albumen should deliver a better product overall.
