Ohio Republican judge leaves GOP after 41 years over disgust with the party under Trump

longtime Republican judge in Ohio has declared that she is switching her party affiliation to Democrat, the Columbus Dispatch reported Friday.

“I’ve been a registered Republican since I was 18, and 41 years later I do not recognize the Republican Party as it is today,” Common Pleas Judge Julie M. Lynch told the newspaper on Friday. “And I’m not the same person I was when I was 18,” she added.

And Lynch may not be the only judge thinking about making the switch, says the paper, who quoted a local Democratic chairman.

“County Democratic Party Chairman Michael Sexton said he has heard rumors that other Republican judges are considering changing their affiliation,” the Dispatch wrote.

She's leaving the GOP to become a Democrat to avoid a potential angry blue wave in 2020.

If Trump's approval wasn't so ugly, she would still be running under the GOP banner.

My opinion.

If she was being honest she would have left the Republican Party within months of Trump's swearing in.

Trumps policies like tax breaks for the rich go back to Ronald Reagan. They had no problem with Shrub and the Iraq War. They voted for the Orange thing in the White House. I find it hard to believe, they have now had an epiphany.

It's one more vote for the Democratic Party. I am not going to say, even in a roundabout way, "Screw you, we don't want you."

It's the Democratic Party. Thus one switch one's affiliation to "Democratic".

We all know these types of people will leave the GOP for a short period, only to return again.
If they were able to stomach Reagan, Bush, Cheney, Trump for this long, then they have some hidden issues.

If Trump is impeached and tossed out of office, I'd bet she switches back, because President Pence is so nice, so Christian.

I remember when most Republicans were considered "moderates" and that was a good thing. Nowadays they use that word to insult people. I guess we Democrats are gonna need a bigger tent, and put out the Welcome mat!
