CHICAGO (AP) — The Latest on attack in prison of Chicago officer convicted of killing black teen Laquan McDonald (all times local):

12:15 p.m.

An attorney for the white Chicago police convicted in the fatal shooting of black teenager Laquan McDonald says the officer was beaten by fellow inmates within hours of his transfer from an Illinois prison to a federal prison in Connecticut.

Tammy Wendt told reporters Thursday that Jason Van Dyke was placed in general population by prison officials who she says didn't take steps to ensure he wouldn't be attacked by other inmates.

Wendt says Van Dyke told his appellate attorneys about the attack in a phone call. Wendt served on Van Dyke's defense team at trial, where he was convicted of second-degree murder and aggravated battery.

For all the other murdering cops out there like Jason Van Dyke.

If his lawyer isn't just lying to get him a move to a less secure facility or a reduced sentence. Typical cop lawyer bullshit.

He didn't worry about emptying his service weapon into that kid and he certainly never worried about anyone else he was putting into the general population with his OBVIOUSLY racist behavior BEHIND A BADGE.

Those in jail provide their own justice. Those who hurt children, are high on the list for "primary" justice in jail. I think when cops realize they will be punished for their crimes in jail they will stop murdering people....DAMN STUPID PIGS
