Trump campaign zeroes in on 3 Democratic 2020 foes

Source: Politico

Donald Trump’s political advisers are homing in on three declared Democratic candidates who they believe are the most viable at this early stage of the campaign.

The reelection campaign has begun compiling opposition research on Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker and is eyeing opportunities to attack them. The effort began over the weekend when the Trump campaign sent out a news release ahead of Warren’s launch criticizing her past claims of Native American heritage.

Trump’s advisers are certain the list of announced Democratic candidates will grow exponentially before the first primary debate in June, and that their targets are certain to fluctuate over time. Yet the early assessment provides a window into how Trump world views the emerging Democratic field — a sprawling, largely undefined group that lacks a clear front-runner.

Interviews with more than two dozen of the president’s closest advisers reveal that the Trump operation is watching the opening days of the Democratic primary with a mix of relief over the field’s sprint to the left, surprise over Harris’ impressive launch, and trepidation over the prospect of Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown threatening Trump’s Midwest stranglehold.

Can't assume Trump will be gone before November 2020 and rest easy.
Assume he will be around and work hard to defeat him.

The House will certainly find enough evidence to impeach him, but the Senate will not convict so he will not be removed in that way. Based on Trump’s non-use of emails or written correspondence, there is likely no direct evidence of Trump telling anyone in the campaign to work with Russia to steal the election. Circumstantial evidence that he did will simply be ignored by the Senate and his supporters. His financial dealings may be more troublesome, but his lawyers will delay and delay to try to avoid any damaging information surfacing prior to the election. Democrats will mostvlikely have to go to court to get Trump’s tax returns because Mnuchin will not voluntarily release them.

Mueller likely has direct evidence to convict Don, Jr. and Jared, but Trump can pardon them. It is the state of New York and the SDNY that hold Trump’s fate, and ours, in their hands. Trump cannot pardon state crimes and may agree to leave if the state penalties for his family are serious enough. I worry that even the state penalties may be fines instead of prison terms. I wish I could be more optimistic because I desperately want this criminal family in jail.

Trump can pardon any charges levied by SDNY- other than the investigation by NY AG into Trump foundation, no state charges are pending at this point.

MY ASS!!!!

As 2019 moves forward, his support will crater everywhere. He won't have any chance in any place other than the knuckle dragging confederacy.

That is, of course, if he is still running for reelection and not in prison.

He's feeling threatened... as well he should be.

Only... it's my firm belief that he won't be around to run for a 2nd term.
