'Pro-family leaders' ask House GOP leader to reinstate Rep. Steve King's committee memberships

Source: W Post

By John Wagner

A group of about 200 people calling themselves “pro-family leaders” is calling for Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) to be reinstated to the committee assignments he lost as part of the fallout last month for reportedly questioning whether the term “white nationalist” should be offensive.

A letter to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) — which King shared Tuesday on Twitter — also asks for McCarthy to publicly apologize for the punishment, calling it a rush to judgment.

“Unlike North Korea, we in the United States are ‘innocent until proven guilty’ and hold to the principles of Western Civilization, as Rep. King so admirably does,” the letter says.

Its signatories include former House majority leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.), evangelical author James Dobson and William Owens, founder and president of the Coalition of African American Pastors.

Like Hillary right? If this happens, Virginia stands it's ground until AFTER investigation. These fools actually think their "own" are innocent even "after" conviction. Any group with family or Christian/faith in it's title is totally racist, ignorant and should be treated as such. Like republican's with flags on their lapels, total bull shit.

not fooled

"presumption of innocence" for pukes but "lock her up" for dems.

Their fake outrage and gall in attempting to twist reality are laughable.

5. I guess they're only "pro-family" if the family in question is WHITE. And STRAIGHT.

It was NO rush to judgement in removing King from his committees. His naked racism has been on full display for years.

And this isn't a court of law, where one is "innocent until proven guilty." He's guilty every time yet another white supremacist remark gets vomited out of his bigoted mouth.

Tom DeLay is a republican former representative from TX, and was sentenced to FIVE YEARS in prison for money laundering.

James Dobson is a rabid anti-woman, anti-abortion, right wing evangelical who once said, ". . . women are merely waiting for their husbands to assume leadership." He was all about women being submissive to their husbands, staying home and staying pregnant. He opposes all form of birth control. He was forced out of his position as leader of the group, Focus on The Family, due to his increasingly strident anti-woman rhetoric by the board of directors.

Reverend William Owens is head of the Coalition of African American Pastors, an infamous anti-gay hate group. His is basically a one-issue platform for opposing gay marriage, which he has said has destroyed the Black family in America. He also said, "there isn't such a thing as separation of church and state."

These are the people demanding that Steve King get an apology for being stripped of his committee membership and be reinstated immediately.

only applies to people charged with a crime. King was not so charged.

This is an issue of decorum and behavior.

media needs to do a better job of reporting - starting with let's call them what they are, Christian conservatives..... if not "white nationalist sympathizers."

So presumption of innocence does not apply in this case
Second, he supported a bigot for Mayor of Toronto
Third, he made the vile comments on the air live
Fourth, if Mc Carthy agrees to ths and then apologizes he's a bigger loser than anyone thought

And lastly, why isn't convicted felon DeLay in prison?

If only he knew the depth of disregard sane people have for him.

Get back in your hot tub, Tom "The Hammer" Delay, AKA "Hot Tub Tom" and fire up your pest exterminator company. You are small potatoes compared to the super charged a-holes Republicans in Congress now. They would leave you in the dust.
