Immigrant families separated by US sue for millions in damages

Source: The Hill

Eight immigrant families separated under the Trump administration's immigration policies filed claims Monday for millions of dollars in damages for what a lawyer called “inexplicable cruelty” that left lasting damage, according to the Associated Press.

The claims detail psychological after-effects of the family separations, including a 7-year-old girl who will not sleep without her mother and a 6-year-old boy who is reluctant to eat.

Stanton Jones, a lawyer for the families, said his clients were entitled to monetary damages because of the government’s “inexplicable cruelty.”

“The government was harming children intentionally to try to advance what it viewed as a policy objective,” Jones said, according to AP. “It’s heinous and immoral, but it’s also a civil wrong for which the law provides a claim for relief.”

person who supports this inhumane republican policy. The degenerates who applaud separating children from their parents will, unfortunately, not die off fast enough. What awful people.

of Trump organizations worldwide, sell them off, and give the money to RAICES and Amnesty International to coordinate a program of undoing the harm this <sufficiently-insulting-word-not-available> has done to the world.

Our neighborhood just helped us get our landscaper out of an ICE prison a couple of weeks ago.
I have been at demonstrations at the ICE office in my city. This is GREAT news! They should win, this is kidnapping and child abuse. Will parents have to resort to tattooing their children before coming here for asylum????

The damage is irreparable to these children and families. For seeking legal asylum. This is minimally criminal child abuse and orchestrated criminal neglect. I hope the lawyers prevail and attract others to assist. Meanwhile, I hope El Paso and Beto send a strong message to wake up the reachable America to this outrage that Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller and associates have unleashed. Subpoena any that formulated, and Nielson for implementing. Morally bankrupt and disgraceful, all of them that enabled this travesty.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree that these families deserve significant reparations for the crimes that were committed against them and their children. It's unfortunate, though, that the American taxpayer will be footing the bill and not Tiny or any of the others who are responsible for this and who have quite likely profited.

This will be a billion-dollar damages case.
Let the prison companies and Trump for President, LLC pay this bill.

I know that won't happen, but a boy can dream.
Really, my dream is that after Trump is convicted, he has to repay to the treasury every thin dime he has grifted.

Between that and what his wife will take in the divorce , even if he is free, he will be broke as fuck living on welfare he will be denied because of a drug addiction (Adderall).
