Judges Deny Ohio's Request To Delay Lawsuit Seeking House Map Redrawing

CINCINNATI (AP) — A three-judge panel in Cincinnati has denied a request by Ohio to delay a federal lawsuit that seeks the redrawing of congressional district lines ahead of the 2020 election.

Friday’s ruling says there are time concerns in deciding a lawsuit filed last May by the Ohio League of Women Voters and others because changes to the map must be completed this September.

. . .

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit argue the current map violates voters’ constitutional rights and has resulted in 12 predictably Republican districts and only four predictably Democratic districts in Ohio.

Ohio sought to delay the trial until after the U.S. Supreme Court decides gerrymandering cases from Maryland and North Carolina.

Never trust Gov. DeWine and Lt Gov Husted to block the voice of the people.

The constitutional amendment for med marijuana set a Labor Day 2018 good to date. It is still, slowly, being rolled out over Ohio. I do not trust either the legislature or executive branches to do the necessary work.

as far as I can throw him, iris blue. For obvious reasons, he’s a Republican.

Jon Husted is worse. Remember the Law suits he filed one afterr another? The County administrators he fired becuse they wouldl not go along with with his cheating? They got heir jobs back but refused to work or for him. One is now my City Commissioner. Long time, well known attorney here.

Ohio is heavily GOP only because of the gerrymandering. If you doubt me, look at District 9. It was engineered to make people choose between Kaptur & Kucinich for the primary, effectively ousting one of them from Congress.

His district to go from Westcheter, all the way up 75 to Miami County. Except around Dayton. That is Democratic.
