Objecting to gag order, Roger Stone's lawyers say he's no Kim Kardashian
Source: Politico
Roger Stones lawyers downplayed their clients political celebrity Friday in urging a federal judge not to slap a gag order on the longtime Donald Trump associate.
The court filing is the latest maneuver by Stones team as the Republican operative fights back against special counsel Robert Muellers charges that Stone lied to Congress and obstructed lawmakers Russia investigation.
While Roger Stone may be familiar to those who closely follow American politics, he is hardly ubiquitous in the larger landscape of popular consciousness, Stones attorneys wrote in an eight-page memo pushing back on U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jacksons concern that Stones media blitz since being indicted could taint the jury pool ahead of a criminal trial later this year in Washington, D.C.
To make their point about Stones limited footprint in the wider world beyond politics and media, his lawyers explained that his work as a writer and speaker is restrained to topics like politics, government and mens fashion.

(6,593 posts)I think a lot of guys would heartily agree with him.
That being said, I hope Stone gets a gag order... what a pathetic waste of oxygen!

(51,610 posts)I heard he was fired from someone's campaign (I think it was Dole's) since it was discovered that he and his wife were into couples swapping. I can't imagine a more hideous visual than that. Ew!

Was that what he did when he called Barbara Bush "a mean-spirited vindictive drunk" who, if they cremated her body, it would burn for three days, within minutes of reports of her death ?
Or his similar comments about Betty Ford's addiction to alcoholism ?
Or how about when he called Don Lemon "an ignorant lying cocksucker" ?
Or maybe when he called Jake Tapper "a lying kike ass-wipe" ?
Or perhaps his comments about Charles Blow being an "arrogant piece of shit" ?
Yes, by all means, slap that bastard with a gag order. He makes me gag every time he opens his foul mouth. If he wants to make sure that the jury pool isn't tainted against him, he should welcome the action.

(19,201 posts)Please, Roger Stone is not a fashion icon, and thank Dog for that. Could you imagine a world full of people walking around dressed like 'The Penguin' from an old Batman episode? Stone comes up with the most ridiculous costumes I've ever seen. He reminds me of my 3 year old grand-daughter. She's a "big girl" now and insists on dressing herself each morning. She goes into her closet and picks some of the most incongruous outfits ever seen on this planet. Polka dots and plaid...stuff like that, you know? We humor her because we don't want to stifle her imagination at such a young age. Roger Stone is old enough to know better. His goal is to attract as much attention to himself as possible by breaking every law of good taste and fashion. He dresses like a color blind peacock with schizophrenia.
