Political giant John Dingell dies at 92

Michigan Democrat John Dingell, the longest-serving member ever of Congress who helped write most of the nation's major environmental and energy laws, died Thursday, his wife said. He was 92.
The Dearborn statesman was a champion of the auto industry and was credited with increasing access to health care, among other accomplishments. Dingell helped write most of America's major environmental and energy laws.

In a career spanning nearly 60 years, from 1955 until he retired in January 2015, the Michigan Democrat and World War II veteran helped shape landmark legislation in support of the environment, civil rights, the American auto industry and access to health care.
Dingell, the longest-serving member of Congress in U.S. history, died Thursday, Feb. 7 after battling cancer and heart trouble.
He was 92.

He served during WWII, and was the longest serving Member of the House in history, where he helped create Medicare, craft the Affordable Care Act, and pass the Civil Rights Act.
His presence will always be felt in the House of Representatives. Always.
