US to waive environmental reviews for San Diego border wall

Source: Associated Press

Updated 4:53 pm CST, Thursday, February 7, 2019

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Trump administration is waiving environmental reviews to replace up to 14 miles of border barrier in San Diego.

The Department of Homeland Security said Thursday it would issue the sixth waiver of Donald Trump's presidency.

A 2005 law gives the Homeland Security secretary authority to waive laws such as the National Environmental Policy Act to build border barriers.

The waivers avoid reviews that can delay and potentially derail construction.

(For which we have Joe Lieberman to thank) Homeland Security has been a bad idea.

And, speaking as someone who lives in a Coast Guard town, we need to make the Coast Guard party of the military again.

The illegal immigrants built a really long tunnel into California years ago. Remember that? I wonder if it was in the area of San Diego? If so, a wall won't stop them.

There are industrial parks, US side, where coyotes move people through.
A wall would be ineffective.

So are many of the outlying districts, with the exception of District 50 (Duncan Hunter Jr.). There's an opportunity that it may also change, once he's sent off to the federal pen.

I've lived between LA and SD my whole life, and to this day I cannot believe how we remain red in SD, but it's the honest truth. I've been yelled at, flipped off, and even attempts to run me off the road as a result of my progressive car magnets. This was all mainly experienced in Carlsbad (North County). East County is definitely more red, though.

At least Issa is gone. Hunter is the next to go!

Trumpers wouldn't be so keen on a wall, if it were their back yards being confiscated, and a view replaced with a tall wall. That changes everything in the environment, not just the view. No animals can cross for water or food. No wind.

This section of the wall has been there a couple of decades and is simply being replaced.
