Tim Stewart, president of Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce, placed on administrative leave for misogynistic Facebook post
The president of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce, former city Mayor Timothy Stewart, has been placed on administrative leave for making a misogynist Facebook post during the the State of the Union speech.
The Republican is the father of the city’s current mayor, Erin Stewart, who took the unprecedented step Wednesday of asking for and receiving her father;s resignation from a pair of city boards and commissions the elder Stewart is a member of.
The former mayor finally broke his silence on the firestorm, expressing regret for referring to a group of 50 Democratic congresswomen and senators who wore white as a nod to the suffragette movement as “Bitches in Heat!”
“I know that the viral effect of this action will continue to enflame [sic] people and groups for days to come and I can assure you that I will seek help for the issues that allow me to act in that way,” Stewart posted on Facebook Wednesday afternoon. “I will begin terminating my social media accounts immediately after this post and apologize to my wife and daughter.”

This is a Connecticut incident but it hits on the Democratic women at the SOTU last night. The State Democratic Chairwoman condemned the comments as well as the republican Chairman.
As noted, he's an ex-Mayor of New Britain and his DAUGHTER (who has condemned the comments) is in her third term as Mayor.
