Feds Seized 'Several Years' of Roger Stone's Communications
Source: Daily Beast
FBI agents seized several years worth of Roger Stones communications following his arrest last week, prosecutors told a federal judge on Thursday. In a motion to ask for more time to bring Stones case to trial, the feds said one reason is because discovery is both voluminous and complex, adding up to several terabytes of information. It includes results of search warrants served on Stones Apple iCloud accounts and email accounts, as well as warrants served on his home, apartment, and office that seized Stones cellphones, computers, and hard drives. After the evidence is filtered by a separate FBI team to separate out communications that are privileged (such as discussions with his attorney), it will be given to prosecutors and shared with Stones defense. Stone is charged by Special Counsel Robert Mueller with eight counts related to alleged lies to Congress about his discussions with WikiLeaks and the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. The case will be jointly tried by the U.S. Attorney for D.C., who filed the motion. Stones defense doesnt oppose the move.

(5,270 posts)Cohen kept tapes and records proving he was not acting alone but was carrying out Trump's wishes regarding the hush money and Trump Tower Moscow, so I expect Roger Stone also hoarded material incriminating others in his shady dealings.

(42,282 posts)He's one of those who believes he's sooooo much smarter and he's soooo much more untouchable because he has the right friends....and the "Oooo, I'm scared I'll be indicted!" bit was mostly to get attention.

(4,066 posts)So, he kept all the dirty laundry on everyone that also happened to incriminate him too. He's such a waste of air.

(10,126 posts)information from Stone to sift through before investigators can look at it (ie filtering out attorney client stuff)
then the investigators have to go through it - volumes of it - words and dollars
and then, that will generate leads they have to chase down = more time and maybe more subpoenas/warrants that could impact people like Corsi or Don Jr.
They haven't even got the transcripts from the House yet. (though they may have seen some of them)
Aren't they still arguing about that bank that took them to the Supreme Court?
Someone probably has to crawl through and chase down clues from Team of Vipers.
And they've still got the shake down of Stone or Don Jr or Corsi or others, for example, to see if they'll flip ....
What about all the sealed indictments? Will those get amended?
There are very probably more indictments to come.
Trump Allies Keep Saying Mueller Is Almost Done. Here Are the Signs He's Not
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-allies-keep-saying-mueller-183441417.html
Maybe they'd like to hit the finish line with the NY AG to help thwart pardons ...
And this whole thing is going to wrap up "soon" - like February?
I really doubt it.
I have no problem with that. Let them take their time to get it right. I just don't think this is going to end as soon as acting AG Whitaker implied.

(5,270 posts)Trump allies in DOJ may just be pushing the notion of Mueller's final report coming soon in order to convince Dems to hold off on starting hearings and impeachment proceedings until Mueller is through, when in reality Mueller won't be through for many more months so Dems in Congress would lose valuable time if they hold off thinking Mueller is finishing soon.

(10,126 posts)and when it isn't they may use that false expectation setting as justification to shut it down.
And like you say, the Republicans failing to name members to the intelligence committee delays Mueller getting the House transcripts (as Rachel Maddow reported) - like they've been doing all along as Mueller should have had that testimony when it was given or not so long after.
The Republicans drag it out. The Trumpsters lie their heads off. And then they both whine about how long it's taking.

(37,648 posts)It's wishful thinking. But they regularly say that. Did you see the video where Whitaker says that? He was hemming & hawing and pausing and just sayin' stuff. None of it was meaningful. It's been on the political programs...how people who READ the statement are misinterpreting it.
Ghouliani said last August that the report would be coming out in September, October latest.

(10,126 posts)but undoubtedly some, including Trump, will.

(37,648 posts)w/the Mueller team. It's ROSENSTEIN who supervises it, still. I think Trump wants that said to string his base along, so they'll relax, thinking there's not much longer to go. But who knows. They just lie lie lie.

(10,126 posts)The trajectory of the country could be changed forever.
Some changes to prevent this from happening again must take place.
So it is important to get this right.
No significant, large special counsel investigation has been done in less than 3 years
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/mueller-is-moving-quickly-compared-to-past-special-counsel-investigations/
Mueller hits 2 years this spring
It is by far the most complex of any investigation.
They need to cool it and let these people do their jobs.
One other 2020 point: what have Trump & the Republicans done to stop this? Nothing for 2018 ...
All they've done is obstructed people from finding out what went on.
They have done next to nothing to protect the country from future attacks.
