Trump expected to float deal to end shutdown, for now, without border wall money

Source: ABC

President Donald Trump is expected to announce a proposal to temporarily reopen government, ending the 35-day shutdown with a clean bill to end the shutdown without obtaining any funding for his $5.7 billion border wall request, according to congressional and White House sources.

Trump is expected to break the news in a statement in the Rose Garden, though sources cautioned that the deal is "not locked in."

After Democrats rejected a proposal to temporarily reopen government with a pro-rated amount of border wall funding Thursday evening, Sen. Lindsey Graham told reporters Friday morning that Republican senators were looking to the White House to decide the next move.

What was closed was airports. They are distinct, which I'm sure most people know. If Delta or United were to "close" it would be a huge, nationwide deal. What happened was airports partially closing as they didn't have enough Federal personnel to function at full capacity.

A serious thing, no arguments there. But it was airports that closed, not airlines.

Mainly Turtles comments, where he said the govt shouldn't have been shut down in the first place, it's not a good way to do things, etc. Then the approval rating lows came out a day or so ago.

Trump relies heavily on Turtle, esp now that the House is lost to Repubs.

Not sure why you are trying to argue.

No airLINES closed today. Three airPORTS partially closed for a time.

That is the only point I have made, yet you seem to want to argue something else.

Maybe you meant to respond to another post?

Congressional leaders, Trump reach tentative deal to temporarily reopen government without wall funds, according to Hill officials

BREAKING NEWS: Congressional leaders, Trump have reached a tentative deal to temporarily reopen the government without wall funds, according to Hill officials.

With President Trump’s approval, the pact would reopen the government for three weeks while leaving the issue of $5.7 billion for the U.S.-Mexico border wall to further talks.

The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations.

Trump was expected to announce the deal in a White House ceremony at 1:30 p.m. in the Rose Garden.

This story will be updated.
