Romney says he won’t cut taxes on wealthy Americans

Source: Yahoo News

Mitt Romney rejected claims by President Barack Obama that he would sign off on more tax breaks for the wealthy if elected president, but again declined to offer specifics on how exactly he would accomplish his goal of lowering taxes for other Americans while also balancing the budget.

In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," Romney said he would offset his proposed 20 percent tax cut for all Americans by eliminating loopholes and deductions for high-income earners. He argued that his plan would in effect lower taxes for middle class Americans while keeping tax rates the same for wealthy Americans.

"People at the high end, high income taxpayers, are going to have fewer deductions and exemptions. Those numbers are going to come down. Otherwise they'd get a tax break," Romney told NBC. "And I want to make sure people understand, despite what the Democrats said at their convention, I am not reducing taxes on high income taxpayers."

* * *

But asked about "the specifics of how you get into this math," Romney declined to offer any additional details, suggesting the "principals" of his plan should be enough for Americans to judge his tax proposals.

OMG! Romney is Flip-Flop Overdrive following the most recent polls. Given him an hour, and he will be sounding as though he is left of Bernie Sanders.

Romney is not even trying to explain his inconsistencies. As for specifics, you will get them on a need to know basis. Sadly, I think he is the most electable Republican, because he is pathologically willing to say at any given moment what he thinks the listener wants to hear.

You should be able to explain this very simply, since it is simple arithmetic: you take from here, you put there. The difference right now is clear. The Dems say the arithmetic is simple, and they can prove it with Clinton's surplus. Romney says that he's not going to get into the "specific" of how he "does the math."

Pitiful.

ones have either been kicked out of office by the more radical right of their party or have abandoned their party alltogether due to said radical right taking over their party and turning it more and more into a xenophobic party full of bigotry and hate.
Of course the irony its the moderates fault for that since they played the game of courting the more xenophobic voters and now those same xenophobes are running the party.

Yeah I, you, we know he's full of shit but like the "occupy" movement, has turned the focus on where it needs to be. The conservative narrative that the wealthy need more tax relief lest they "Go Galt" has been neutered.

On to the next ( defeatable ) talking point.

and dictating the terms, while the other side looks broken, in shambles, engaged in a circular firing squad and completely unhinged from their normally controlled selves.

This might be the GOP's 2004, where they went with "electability" only to lose, like we did with Kerry.

As for his flip-flops. . .he said it earlier. . .he is the etch-a-sketch candidate.

Now we just have to figure out who is actually pulling the strings. Someone is obviously "correcting" Romney back onto the approved trail with all these flips and flops. Remember the Republican presidents between 1870 and 1952? (Exception was T Roosevelt, but that is another story). There is a reason for that. The Republican party does not like strong presidents and prefer non-entities that took orders from Congress and industry. Are there any real political pundits that see this parallel, or am I hallucinating?

to blur the distinctions between the two and fool the voters.

If Romney had credibility, I'd be worried.

But I don't think he's believable at this point

and undecideds are a very small portion of the population

and Obama is OUT-PROMISING Mitt at this point

by raising taxes on millionaires.

Advantage: Obama

that they had breaking news that Rmoney had to pull out from his run as President because he was found to be on the later stages of Alzheimer's and that they were trying to hide it till at least after the elections and President Obama won by default. It was a really weird dream but after waking up this morning I have come to the conclusion that parts of my dream could easily become reality. This is not the actions of a man who is in complete control of himself.

and the person who says them refuses to explain why: run. Run fast, far, and in the opposite direction.

Then again, these are Republicans we're talking about. I even have a couple of women Facebook friends who've joined the "Ryan for Vice President" group! They obviously haven't done even a tiny bit of research about what Romney actually thinks of women--at least, I hope they haven't. If they have and joined the group, anyway....

Suddenly it is so clear.....The Repubs WANT to plunge America into a deep depression- Reason: So employers can go back to paying depression-era wages to employees!

If you young people do not know what that means, then I can tell you- $25.00 a week! Don't laugh.

This is a smash-and-grab-all-the-marbles election and they WILL WIN by any means.

BRILLIANT ROMNEY- BRILLIANT RYAN- You and your corporate buddies will have a ton of money and not have to pay decent wages. Corporations WIN!!! Americans LOSE!!!
