Following a report that the FBI opened a counterintelligence investigation into President Donald Trump's relationship with Russia, former Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Frank Figliuzzi said it is likely that Robert Mueller indeed has "classified" evidence.

"I think this is particularly sobering, even for career counterintelligence professionals who always in the back of their minds think there is an outside possibility someone could rise to high office who might be playing for another team," Figliuzzi said during an appearance on MSNBC's AM Joy. "To see this in writing, to hear this report -- if it's accurate to say the bureau actually opened a case on Donald J. Trump -- is really like hitting the American people in the gut."

Figluizzi and AM Joy host Joy Reid referenced a report from the New York Times, published on Friday, which revealed that the FBI began the counterintelligence investigation just days after former FBI director James Comey was fired. The goal of the investigation, the Times said, was to determine if Trump "was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow's influence."

While Mueller took over the counterintelligence case and combined it with his own investigation, the Times was unable to determine if he is still pursuing the counterintelligence matter.

Figliuzzi told Joy Reid that he was "virtually certain" that Mueller's team couldn't have gotten an investigation through all the required layers of approval unless there had been more evidence than just Trump's public behavior -- i.e., classified evidence.

They are literally everywhere, even here on DU. Their sole purpose is to sow social discord and undermine the institutions of the west including intelligence services, the FBI, government agencies, etc. It's been active for many years.

17. I would use that description for Putin's trolls, or troll army. The bots (short for robots) are

software programs that perform automated, repetitive, pre-defined tasks. Their basic structure is "if this, then that".
For example, an early use was to send a message to people who wanted to be notified when a certain stock rose or fell. Another example is the CNN bot that sends notifications of new content you might be interested in based on previous reading history.

Nefarious types programmed bots to do harm, like sending out millions of spam messages, or social media bots to post stories to profiles that meet a certain criteria. For example, if a facebook profile lists NRA, GOP, and Tea Party in their favorites they'll be innundated with posts that claim Clinton is trying to take away guns. This is an extremely simplistic explanation. Russian bots during the 2016 campaign used highly personalized information to micro target voters with false stories and propaganda. (That is where companies like Cambridge Analytica came in).

I think it was a Trump supporter in Mississippi who recently said that she still fully supports Trump but is disappointed that he is not hurting the people he was supposed to hurt—namely, us, all people of color, immigrants, LGBT, women, and anyone who thinks that Trump is an ignorant despot. I guess hurting children and babies by ripping them away from their parents at the border and putting them in cages was not hurtful enough to satisfy her.
