Three have died in accidents at national parks that were closed during past shutdowns

As the government shutdown approaches the end of its second week, national parks have remained open, albeit with no staff, raising the risk of injury and lowering the chances of rescue for those who get hurt.

President Trump’s decision to leave the parks open during the partial shutdown is counter to those of previous administrations during previous shutdowns.........................

During previous extended shutdown that occurred under former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, the administrations decided to close the parks to visitors for not wanting to jeopardize the public’s safety in the parks...............................

BENGHAZI! BENGHAZI! BENGHAZI! BENGHAZI!
...Surely those fiscally-conservative Republicans are calling Trey Gowdy back even now to conduct another round of pricey investigations? Right? ...Right?

(Disclaimer: NO, I am NOT deliberately trivializing the deaths at the consulate nor those in the parks. I am deliberately trivializing the GOP's deliberate trivialization of those deaths.)

How many die per week in the national parks when they are fully staffed?

Seems like the solution is simple, don't go to national parks during the shutdown.

It varies a bit from year to year, but about 150 or so each year, plus anywhere from 20 to 50 suicides each year. So my guess is that the numbers are actually comparable.
