A fender bender where they got hooked together. I think a little heat and gravity separates them.

And is there a slight amount of ice attached as well?

Amazing that there is enough light that far out to get a picture of this quality. The space craft is travelling at just over 31,000 mph so it can't be a long exposure. Regardless, this is an amazing feat.

I have never understood why some people think that scientific discovery, particularly regarding outer space, is boring. It is not. I think it's the most exciting thing that we ever do. We all live in an amazing creation, and we can at least try to appreciate it and try to understand how it was all put together.
