RUSSIA PICKED DONALD TRUMP AND RAN HIM FOR PRESIDENT, FORMER ISRAELI INTELLIGENCE OFFICER SAYS
Source: Newsweek
Russia chose Donald Trump as the U.S. presidential candidate who would be most advantageous to Moscow, and used online tactics to win him the presidency, according to a former agent of the Israeli intelligence agency the Mossad.
"Officials in Moscow looked at the 2016 U.S. presidential race and asked, Which candidate would we like to have sitting in the White House? Who will help us achieve our goals? And they chose him. From that moment, they deployed a system [of bots] for the length of the elections, and ran him for president, former Mossad chief Tamir Pardo told the audience at the Markers digital conference in Israel on Monday, where experts gathered to discuss online disinformation campaigns and bots.
What weve seen so far with respect to bots and the distortion of information is just the tip of the iceberg. It is the greatest threat of recent years, and it threatens the basic values that we sharedemocracy and the world order created since World War Two, Pardo noted, according to Haaretz.

(48,955 posts)Probably assumed he would get rave reviews from his trip to see troops, but gets roasted by several Fox hosts for disrespect - and invited to remove all us troops in Iraq due to Donnie's disrespecting the host country and it's leader. And it keeps going down hill with each passing hour.
Am guessing he has lost or will lose a small percentage of his base across this week. Enough big jolts to open some eyes of those who were already growing increasingly uncomfortable with him.

(14,077 posts)Does Mossad chief mean the head of Israeli intelligence? I would think that the word of the head of intelligence carries more weight than just an intelligence officer.

(6,831 posts)It is interesting, because usually you need a crowbar to pry information out of these people.
The Mossad is very very good at what they do. And, they do NOT like to tip their hands even when the intel is out there. So, if this man is talking, people need to listen.

(19,201 posts)shares Israeli intelligence info with his best friends, the Russians, in a closed door meeting in the Oval Office attended by two Russians and Trump. That is never, ever done by real Presidents of the United States. He could have given them our nuclear launch codes for all we know! Gee, I wonder why dirtbag Donnie never wants any other Americans in the room with him when he converses with his best buds, the Russians? Seems sort of fishy to me.

(11,519 posts)Hillary, as we all know, won the election by over 3 MILLION votes. Yet a razor thin margin of 77,744 votes in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania tipped the electoral college for Tiny. Between Russian meddling, repub voter suppression tactics, and Comey's last minute fake revelation we got fucked.

(7,220 posts)of course most of us already know this happened. The confirmations are important.
What I want to know is, why did this intelligence officer not speak publicly until now?

(810 posts)"It is unclear, however, whether these efforts succeeded in swaying voters."
It's just ridiculous when reporters, pundits, and others keep saying, "We don't know if this affected the outcome of the election." OF COURSE IT DID!! And the Russians were probably able to hack into the software as well.

(326 posts)that Putin installed Trump, and Im not afraid to say that I dont believe that 77K legitimate votes decided the 2016 election.
Republicans and even some Democrats like to point out that HRC was a bad candidate who ran a bad campaign, and thats why we lost. Nobody wants to remember the fact that Trump beat Huckabee, Fiorina, Kasich, Carson, Cruz, Paul, Santorum, Christie, and Rubio before he won the 2016 election. So, they were ALL bad candidates?
This makes absolutely no sense, and the only logical explanation is that Putin chose and installed Trump. I really hope that we will live long enough to find out what really happened in 2016.

(81,304 posts)I've felt this, too. All along. Putin found himself a REALLY useful idiot. But one other thing here is false. Hillary was NOT a "bad candidate." AND we DIDN'T lose. Anybody who gets three million more votes than the opponent did - HAS won, AND IMO has won legitimate bragging rights on the popular vote.

(4,066 posts)This story is planted by people who want to change the narrative. It clearly tries to make it look like Putin/Russia only decided to interfere with the US government and elections at a RECENT time. It seeks to quell the fact Trump has been the unwitting or witting tool of Russia for far, far longer. To dispel the notion Putin plays the long-game.
