Following reports that the president is planning a full withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria (along with his proclamation on Twitter that ISIS has been defeated in Syria) Graham broke from the White House and bashed the move.
With all due respect, ISIS is not defeated in Syria, Iraq, and after just returning from visiting there certainly not Afghanistan, Graham wrote, in a multi-part tweetstorm. The Senator added, Withdrawal of this small American force in Syria would be a huge Obama-like mistake.

(22,156 posts)blaming others, you would be better to blame yourselves since you're the ones in power, in both houses and the executive branch. All of them. Blame solely rests on yourselves for the mistakes made in this endeavor, which I think like one poster said in this trend, another will spring up to replace ISIS.

Until the underlying causes that result in the creation of these groups are dealt with, we just change one group for another, and another, and so on. It is a no win scenario and guarantees that we will never get out of the Middle East.

(7,142 posts)We don't need 100 military bases all over the world, or is it bases in 100 different countries? We certainly made a big mistake invading Iraq.
Here's the deal with this pull out. The Kurds helped us defeat ISIS, they did most of the fighting. Now Turkey wants to wipe out the Kurds and one thing holding them back are our forces in Syria. It's a damn shame if we desert the Kurds after they helped us. Maybe the Kurds who aren't slaughtered will become terrorists against America?

(1,201 posts)are telling him not to. He just wants money for real estate from the Saudi's by abandoning the Kerds who fought side by side with us against ISIS. Erdowon(sp) in Turkey will ride in and slaughter the Kerds as soon as Trump pulls the troops out. It makes no sense. Thomm Hartmann claims it's in response to get Turkey to shut up about Kassaggi murder and Trump can get the loans from the Saudis, he and Kushner, for their hotel deals. Trump is too stupid to have any sense of the subject so you can be sure it's for a personal profit motive as how he justifies this action.

(15,465 posts)But gotta support Trump on this one. Graham is a warmonger. We never should have been there to begin with. Pull out.

(7,142 posts)Read the post above yours. When we pull out our ally who helped us defeat ISIS is going to get slaughtered.
Turkey will be happy and lay off the Khashoggi murder which will make Trump and Saudi Arabia happy. The Saudis for a long time have bailed Trump out. When Trump's casino went bankrupt they bought his yacht. Who knows how much money they have given him now? Maybe the secret company (bank) is a Saudi bank?

U.S. troops will now stay in Syria indefinitely, controlling a third of the country and facing peril on many fronts

A few thousand U.S. troops in overall control, perhaps indefinitely, of an area comprising nearly a third of Syria, a vast expanse of mostly desert terrain roughly the size of Louisiana
Just how much 'control' can so few have over such a large area?
Or is it just nothingburger bragging rights for empty desert?

(146,324 posts)Trump's just following orders. He just dumped sanctions on two major aluminum plants in Russia, too.
Putin is getting what he wants before Trump has to go. Watch for more of this.
