VA Secretary Misled Senators During Confirmation

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie gave inaccurate answers to senators during his confirmation process about pro-Confederate speeches he delivered in 2009, CNN reports.
In response to questions about remarks he made at Confederate memorial events, Wilkie downplayed his participation in a June 2009 event at the Confederate memorial in Arlington National Cemetery as simply introducing a keynote speaker. He also said he didnt have copies of remarks because he had not delivered a speech to such groups in 15 to 20 years.'
But Wilkies comments stand in contradiction to what his spokesman told CNNs KFile team last week, when he confirmed that Wilkie delivered a speech extolling the legacy of Robert E. Lee at that June 2009 ceremony at the Confederate memorial. The speech was the same one that he gave to another group in December 2009, which was also published in the Confederate Veteran magazine.

But Forrest! Good god. The man was a monster. How can you top off being a slave trader and encouraging your men to slaughter surrendered black union soldiers? Hey, start the KKK!

(4,341 posts)Every day we find politicians from the GOP lying, the orange one does it many times every day, and too many are getting away with it. This is banana republic bahaviour that is becoming normal. When you hear republican politicians use the "all politicians lie" defense, and no one says anything about it, that is very dangerous.
Lying must be punished, it is becoming so normal, mostly by republicans, that they don't care to do it because they feel they are going to get away with it.
And Flynn is a traitor and should be treated as such...I think it needs to be said over and over.

This would make it a criminal offense .... Wilkie should be removed from his position and be charged with perjury
