O'Rourke doubles support in CNN poll of Dem presidential race

Source: The Hill

Rep. Beto O'Rourke has doubled his support in a new CNN poll measuring the popularity of possible Democratic presidential candidates.

Nine percent of Democrats said they would likely support O'Rouke in the 2020 race, putting him second in the poll behind former Vice President Joe Biden, who won 30 percent, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who won 14 percent.

Both Democratic Sens. Kamala Harris (Ca.) and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) lost five percent support in the poll, with Harris falling from 9 percent to 4 percent, and Warren falling from 8 percent to three percent.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) finished fourth in the poll with 5 percent, the same level he won in October.

The Clinton's are a good example of what a concerted long term "vast right wing conspiracy" can do. It makes no difference if 3 million more Americans did trust her, enough others were convinced either she was a dirty criminal, and possible murderer, who put the country in danger with her email server use, and was negligent on her job as SoS to the point of refusing even to aid the Americans at the Benghazi government building, and maybe even involved in a child sex trafficking gang. At the very least....where there's smoke there's fire. And there was a ton of smoke. All they heard on monopolized RW radio in middle America at least, was 24/7 fake news lies about her, for decades!

That type of propaganda and brain washing takes time to develop. I'm sure they can do a lot of damage against Beto in the time left, but maybe not as much as they need to.

I can't believe I'm saying this because I'm a Bernie guy, but a Biden / O'Rourke ticket might go over well. Biden I think is too old, but he remains popular. if there was a young buck backing him up as VP like O'Rourke, I'd be ok with it. But regardless, Beto should at least be the VP pick. It would rally new voters, younger voters, and introduce him, give him the experience to eventually take the big job.

"governor" who was a media darling and he ran us into the ground. We followed that up by electing the most experienced politician I know of -- Jerry Brown, despite all of the ridicule he suffered (most likely conjured up by rethugs). He was exactly what CA needed to clean up after pathetic arnold.

Whitman was an idiot, and who was the other Republican? Insurance commissioner or something?

Brown had a successful run as Oakland Mayor and Attorney General. No more Governor Moonbeam.

Schwarzenegger was part of the dying gasp of the Republican Party in CA, and nobody was happy with him at the end.

It really wasn't the same as the country is now. Now whoever runs will have to deal with a viscious, desperate Trump, right wing media, manufactured scandals, Russian interference, probably some illegal campaign activities again. Whoever runs need to be a champion campaigner and impregnable. And it isn't about experience because Hillary had plenty of that.

but look at health care. He wasted months of time trying to work with Grassley. The stimulus had ridiculous crap in it to try to get GOP votes (he got like 2). The GOP, early on, showed they were unwilling and/or unable to work with him in any way at all.

I like Beto the most. But I am concerned he won't be as tough and ruthless with the Republicans that our new President would need to be.

I think Biden will be too conciliatory with the Republicans. He's very polite, by-the-book. He hearkens back to a time when the two parties could be friends. I'm not sure he gets how corrupt the opposition is now, and how much the Russians have infiltrated our government. But maybe he gets it. And it would be hard to put anything past him because of his decades of experience.

I don't want to go thru the Bernie thing again.

Not crazy about the others.

So maybe Biden? Maybe a new choice will enter the fray. I'm looking for someone tough. These Republicans nowadays are crooked; we need someone tough to deal with that. And someone who can't be easily fooled, because the Republicans will pull everything out of the hat to get past him/her.
