Beto O'Rourke, who's pondering a 2020 presidential bid, met with Barack Obama

Source: Washington Post

Beto O’Rourke, weighing whether to mount a 2020 presidential bid, met recently with Barack Obama at his post-
presidency offices in Washington.

The meeting, which was held Nov. 16 at the former president’s offices in Foggy Bottom, came as former Obama aides have encouraged the Democratic House member to run, seeing him as capable of the same kind of inspirational campaign that caught fire in the 2008 presidential election.

The meeting was the first sign of Obama getting personally involved in conversations with O’Rourke, who, despite his November loss in a U.S. Senate race in Texas, has triggered more recent discussion and speculation than any other candidate in the burgeoning 2020 field.

But it's not what I believe, it's what he believes and how he convinces me (and others) he is right should he decide to run. I'm with Harris as it stands right now.

i do feel Beto has the same ability to lead and to rally a crowd as Obama did - very measured, yet very articulate, elegant, polished and extremely passionate in his speech delivery. He moves you when he speaks. I've heard him in person. He has the makings of a great leader.

That said, i also do believe Biden given his long long history of experience and relatability to the working class would be the bettter choice at this time, given we need the rustbelt to go blue again in 2020. Beto could be Joe's VP and wingman, and run for POTUS later. That would be my dream team .

He's not Obama. That can't be duplicated. But he has something. I would have to see more of him to know for sure. But he's one of the most interesting possibilities, IMO.

Beto is. There's a first time for everything. Considering we have a POTUS who never held elected office before, or even had to get a job on his own, I'm not sure it's as important as it once was.

Amy Klobuchar. She is very impressive every time I see her on national tv. I believe she is someone who could win and that's all I care about.
