Candidate Romney Will Finally Meet the Press
Source: politico
Mitt Romney has made the gentlemanly decision to lay low during the Democratic National Convention, but Politico reports that he'll come back swinging this weekend with a taped interview on Meet the Press. Romney hasn't been on the show since December 2009, and it will mark only his second appearance on a non-Fox News Sunday show during this election cycle. He and David Gregory have a lot of catching up to do.

(62,683 posts)How are you holding up under the relentless Democratic attacks?
Though Gregory will probably say "Democrat attacks."
Is there anything we can do to make you feel better?

Welcome to DU!

(7,403 posts)Did Gregory agree to allow the Romney camp to selectively edit the tape and remove gaffes before it is broadcast? My guess is that the answer to this question is shamefully yes.

(19,458 posts)I mean.. eventually isn't the press going to like.. CALL HIM on anything? They keep spewing lies, and now they're lying about the jobs numbers, and other facts revealed at the DNC Convention. I know that we saw Romney ON camera saying "let Detroit go bankrupt." then you see him on camera taking CREDIT for its rebirth?
So is he going to do an interview and just lie his way through it? What if they call him on his lies, finally? I really mean it. Have you ever seen a campaign so lie-based? It's the weirdest thing. They have no plans that they'll reveal, they just whine and scream about things they make up or take out of context. They lie about things, then say that they aren't beholden to fact-checkers.
I think that Romney and Ryan are the most despicable people in politics.. along with Rove. I've never seen such a thing.

(18,637 posts)I wonder if MTP is so desparate for the ratings that they'd accept a list of "acceptable" questions? If so, that is everything that is wrong about the media.
on edit:
Maybe the campaign has reserved the right to edit the interview. That's even worse.

(9,992 posts)Mitt hasn't done a gentlemanly thing in his entire sorry life.
He was "preparing for debates" (aka HIDING and praying the tax return issue will go away) by his own campaign's admission. Now that he's been called cowardly and scared b/c of it, this "gentlemanly decision" excuse pops up.
And MTP? Why not just send Mittens for a day at a spa? Although, come o think of it a pedicure MIGHT be a bit more uncomfortale that any of David Gregory's "questions."
