Democrats see late surge in Senate battlegrounds
Source: Politico
President Donald Trump held more than half a dozen rallies over the final weekend to boost GOP candidates.

A final batch of polls provided signs of late momentum for Democrats in the battle for the Senate, with surveys showing their candidates leading in two battleground races and decisively ahead in New Jersey.
In Florida, Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson led Republican Gov. Rick Scott in two surveys out Monday, a sign that the critical battleground race is breaking their way in the final days. And in Missouri, an NBC News poll showed Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill slightly leading Republican Josh Hawley despite Republicans optimism in recent weeks that the race shifted in their favor.
Democrats would need both those polls to be correct especially in Missouri, where Hawley has led by a similar margin in several other recent public polls and to have similar momentum in a handful of other tossup races, to have any shot at winning the Senate majority Tuesday night.
It's a long-shot, but not impossible. And President Donald Trump has gone all in down the stretch to prevent it from happening.

(12,165 posts)I'm guessing the people who aren't actors have already voted or plan to vote. Snippets from Trump's bellowing make it on the news. But I wonder if anyone is really paying attention to these stupid rallies anymore? I doubt he's winning over more voters.
IMHO, Trump is engaging in northing more than rhetorical masturbation, stroking his own ego.

(24,437 posts)*I* don't know anybody personally whom are watching his rallies but apparently enough people are since he is still doing them. His one in Indianapolis this past Friday was literally 10-15 minutes away from where I live. Too close for comfort IMHO. It still seems crazy to me that he has basically been nothing but these rallies and not his job but as long as the Republicans are in charge and don't care, I guess it doesn't matter.

(54,437 posts)Republicans cheat. It's what they do. They are both perpetrators and police (who curiously never seem to find any perpetrators). In the Georgia governor's race, the top election official is also the Republican candidate. They don't try to hide it. They just say "whaddya gonna do about it?"
Let's hope the next Democratic Congress DOES do something about it. I am sick of seeing this crooked Republican sleaze EVERY election!

2) He sucks the oxygen away from the local candidate. If he says something then the local news plays 3 minvofchim and then gives 3 min to the Democratic opponent and the local Republican is lost.
