Student travels 3 hours to cast vote in Johnson County

Voting in her first general election is a must for Hannah Nuss, who is a sophomore at Drake University in Iowa.

She had planned to simply mail in an absentee ballot, but then she got a voicemail from the Johnson County, Kansas Election Office last week that told her there was a problem with her absentee registration.

However, Nuss wouldn't let the mix-up or her college workload keep her from voting.

“I wanted to make sure my voice was heard,” she said

I used to live in Johnson County, KS (and when I saw the header I was hoping it was the Johnson County in Kansas and not some other one) and although I moved away some ten years ago, I still have friends and relatives back there and I'm very aware of what's going on. So good for her.

The problem with her absentee ballot registration is simple--vote suppressor Kris Kobach is our Secretary of State.
