'THIS IS A WHITE NEIGHBORHOOD': Woman greets family by calling their child the n-word, police say

Source: Washington Post

An Indiana woman is accused of writing a racist note targeting a black child who was moving into a new neighborhood with his family, using a racial slur and telling them, “THIS IS A WHITE NEIGHBORHOOD.”

Authorities said 63-year-old Deborah Cantwell, who is white, penned the letter and placed it on the new neighbors’ front door this month near Greentown, Ind. It warned the parents that one of their children, who authorities said is black, was “not welcome” in the community, according to court documents. It’s unclear whether his parents are also black; police declined to comment further.

A photo posted on GoFundMe, which appears to show the letter, revealed that a racial slur was used to describe the child.

“We moved here to a WHITE TOWN, ALL WHITE NEIGHBORHOOD — FOR HEALTH REASONS AMONG OTHER THINGS. THIS IS OUR FOREVER HOME, WE CANNOT AFFORD TO MOVE — BESIDES THIS IS MY DREAM HOME AND WE HAVE BEEN HERE FOR A VERY LONG TIME,” it read. It added that the family “SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERED THE NEIGHBORS” before bringing the child into the area.

While Indiana certainly isn't innocent where the Klan is concerned it is not the birthplace, nor is everyone who lives here like this person. I suggest you read some history before casting such aspersions.

Easy to understand for anyone who takes the time to think about it.

Hideous hag racist.

Here's the story, with details, regarding this young man and his loving, supportive family:

'No N*****s wanted in this neighborhood': White Indiana woman, 63, arrested for leaving horrific racist note on her new neighbor's door targeting their black son

  • Deborah Cantwell was charged with intimidation and criminal mischief for note
  • Cantwell also covered her neighbors' newly purchased home with toilet paper
  • Amy Pundt said Cantwell saw her black son while they posed with a 'Sold' sign
  • Cantwell wrote in letter that she 'finds N****s stressful' and it sets off her 'rage'
  • 'I cannot be stress free if I have to look at the n*****r kid', she wrote in the letter
  • Cantwell later admitted to police that she wrote the letter and would't apologize

A 63-year-old Indiana woman has been arrested after she left a racist letter on the door of her neighbors' newly purchased home, police have revealed.

Deborah Cantwell was charged with intimidation and criminal mischief after she allegedly covered her neighbors' house in toilet paper and left the shocking letter.

A protection order was also issued stating that 'stalking has occurred' and that Cantwell is not allowed to contact the family.

Cantwell spotted Amy Howell Pundt and her family on October 12, when they happily took photos with the 'Sold' sign in front of their new home in Greentown.

Hateful, vicious woman, so obsessed with her own satisfaction she doesn't mind hurting an innocent young man and his loved ones who love him dearly, and who are desperate to protect him. That's a natural reaction from people who love. I hope they reach some kind of security, away from the clutches of this stupid dragon.

    "
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the Kokomo Tribune, Cantwell admitted to posting the letter when she was interviewed by police on Oct. 18.

“I mean, the blacks get away with it every time,” she told police.

“I was just trying to let them know that they weren’t really … welcome as far as us. … I just needed to let off some steam and it was the – I’m not a violent person so I didn’t think it was any big deal,” Cantwell added."

How can anyone harbor so much hatred in their heart ?

Does she even have the capacity to understand the damage she has done to that family ? With her one letter, she has inflicted trauma on every member of this family that will linger for years. Words matter.

She shouldn't be in jail, however, she should be sent to a psychiatric facility and pumped so full of thorazine that she can't even remember her own name by the end of the week.

These types are emboldened by the GOP and its representatives. The one "positive" is the neighbors now know what a pig this woman is. The downside is, for the family, how many other neighbors might be just like her. I hope the neighbors rise up to support the family.

It's not as if, in a moment of extreme rage, she said the most hurtful thing that came to mind.

She took the time to sit down and compose that vile letter. It was absolutely not a heat of the moment popping off at the mouth situation. Doesn't surprise me a bit that she stands by her words.

Hopefully in time (and in a jail cell) she'll come to realize how awful her views are and grow as a person. I doubt she will, but as my Grammy says, "Where there's life, there's hope."
