4 Dead, Several Others Shot At Pittsburgh Synagogue

SQUIRREL HILL, Pa. (KDKA) – Police from across the city of Pittsburgh are responding to an active shooting situation at the The Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill.

KDKA’s Andy Sheehan reports that at least four people have been confirmed dead, possibly as many as 7 to 8 could be dead.

Police have requested that residents stay inside their home as they have exchanged gun fire with a suspected gunman.

The Synagogue was reportedly full of people for a Saturday service and police say they’ve received several calls from people barricaded inside the Synagogue.

Andy Sheehan, KDKA reporter who lives near the synagogue, has been doing yeoman reporting.

The latest is 8 dead, plus more injured. 3 cops shot, but no reports the injuries are life-threatening.

The shooter is in custody and has given police his name although the name given isn't confirmed to be that of the shooter. Parishoners reported the shooter entered the synagogue shouting anti-semetic things such as "all Jews must die". The shooter was reportedly armed with an AK-47 and 2 handguns.

In addition to sabbath services, there was also a bris ceremony being conducted.

There are more people wounded and two officers were shot, reported CBS Pittsburgh, adding that the suspect is a white male who was crawling and wounded. A Saturday service was underway at the synagogue when the mass shooting occurred.

Trump is a "globalist", not the "nationalist" he claims to be. But this seems to be targeted at a Jewish refugee resettlement organization perhaps driven by Trump's harping on the "caravan". However, there was a story in the Pgh Post-Gazette a day or so ago about Pgh shutting down its refugee resettlement program due to dropping numbers and naming a local Jewish organization as one of the organizations that would pick up the slack.
