Cannon House Office Building evacuated after alarm goes off

WASHINGTON -- The Cannon House Office Building has been evacuated due to an audible alarm, according to US Capitol Police.
The building is located at 27 Independence Ave in Southeast D.C. At this time it is not clear why the alarm went off, however everybody was told to evacuate the building.

FYI the Cannon House office building houses 140 members of congress including Nancy Pelosi!!

and many places have drills and other special "safety" related stuff in October.
Not saying this is the reason behind this incident but it is possible anyway. As a fed (now-retired), we used to have specific October fire drills where the actual date/time in October was (publicly) unannounced to employees in the building (outside of agency managers/safety reps). We used to try to listen for "rumors" of dates/times and try to work it where we would already be outside doing something (getting coffee, etc) in advance.
