Democrats Hold Big Lead In Most Competitive Districts

A new Cook Political Report/LSU poll finds Democrats hold a nine point lead over Republicans in the 72 most competitive House races, as rated by the Cook Political Report.
Among voters who say President Trump will be a factor in their choice, more plan to use their vote so to show opposition to the President than to show support for the President, especially in competitive districts.
Also interesting: More people agree that Democrats should be elected to put a check on the President than agree that Republicans should be elected to keep the economy strong.

(10,437 posts)72 congressional districts were polled....just 10 adults in each....but its better to be ahead than behind for sure. We can't make a big leap from this as the sample size is minute...

(700 posts)I think most of us know the economy is not due to the Repubs. Trump inherited an economy the Dems turned around and he has done nothing but sit back and reap the rewards.
Most of us know that truth. Most except for his ignorant inbred supporters. And even they know it but will never vocalize it.

There are signs that the Democrats position in the expanding House battlefield may actually be improving. Yet Republican candidates locked in tight races from New York to Nevada find themselves in stronger-than-expected positions because of a bump in President Donald Trumps popularity, the aftermath of a divisive Supreme Court fight and the sudden focus on a caravan of Latin American migrants making an arduous trek toward the U.S. border.

(10,437 posts)Whatever happens is in our court, it's in our hands to make happen. My wife and have registered new voters who are excited to be voting for the first time, our county democratic committee is engaged in the GOTV effort since end of September and phone banks are manned 10 hours a day. This kind of effort by all of us can make 2018 historic. If we each will do the work, we can make it happen. That won't be done in DU...our actions have to be more than some forum

(129,106 posts)I actually had a canvasser come by my complex here in Philly last night, putting out flyers for Wolf and Casey. The group was called "Philly Neighborhood Networks" - http://phillynn.org/
Looking at their history, they were formed with the help of MoveOn in 2004/2005. So folks are out and about. My area of the city usually has the highest turnout of any area (even despite this org's initiative) but as we know, every single damn vote counts and I make sure my family members get to the polls and will give rides!
